Monday, January 9, 2012. Welcome to the new Lucas Family blog. Today is the first day that Natalia and I are on our own. Steve returned back to work and Adrian is at daycare. The house is very quiet. I’ve been ordered to leave alone the Windex and spend time getting to know my new little girl. I guess the floors can wait a few more days to be cleaned. Natalia is growing and gaining weight quickly. Her preemie sleepers are now too tight and she is fitting into some of her 0-3 month clothes.

Monday, October 29, 2012. I was hoping that this post would include pictures from our family fall photo shoot, but we still haven’t received them. They should arrive sometime this week and once they do I will post a few. This weekend we are participating in the Edmonton Down Syndrome Society’s 8th annual Buddy Walk. The weather is not going to be as warm as originally forecasted, but we will bundle up and help support a cause that is very important to us. The Buddy Walk has three primary goals.

Monday, November 12, 2012. Dear Family and Friends,. I would like to begin this post with a huge THANK YOU. This year’s Buddy Walk was a fantastic success. The Edmonton Down Syndrome Society raised $150,000. With your help we personally collected around $1900. I haven’t received the official letter stating our exact amount, but again we are touched by all your generosity. Thank you for taking the time to support a cause that is so important to us. Wednesday, February 22, 2012. We had a great weekend planned but it did not turn out at all as we had hoped. Where should I begin. On Wednesday I picked up Adrian from daycare early, as he was not having a very good day. He had a fever and a small blister had appeared on his cheek. He was admitted into the Stollery that night. He was eventually diagnosed with Stevens Johnson Syndrome (a very rare autoimmune syndrome). He was discharged on Sunday to continue his recovery at home. Well I guess I can say th...

Friday, June 15, 2012. Our little man will soon be turning two years old. I have created a photo slideshow of memories from this past year. It is amazing how much he has grown and changed. Thursday, September 27, 2012. Last night Adrian was practicing his walking with Steve and started to take some steps on his own. I was feeding Natalia in her room when I heard Steve cheering Adrian on and calling me to come and see what he was doing. We are super excited and now see the possibility of him walking by Christmas. Friday, July 20, 2012. It was a beautiful private ceremony with our close family and friends. Natalia was an angel through the whole Baptism and didn’t even squirm when the holy water was poured on her head. Adrian was allowed to splash his hand in the basin (very cute) and was also on his best behaviour. Thank you to those who were able to come and share this important occasion with us. Tuesday, July 24, 2012. This was the second trip back to Ontario for all 4 of us (that’s right Natalia was with us last year too). It was extremely hot and humid, but we survived and had fun visiting family and friends. During the 12 day trip we crammed in a lot of visiting including Adrian and Natalia’s 99 year old great grandma.
