Alana's Adventures

Sep 29, 2013. The Summer of Blood, Sweat, and Tears . . . but mostly just sweat. From the time I finally made it out of Saudi Arabia to the time I had to leave for England to start my Master's program in the fall, I only had about 6 weeks to get the house ready to be put on the market. First, I had new tile put in the bathroom and kitchen. Here it is before:. The tile guys quickly got to work tearing out all the old tile. The last thing was to plant some cute flowers out front. Alana's Adventures: August 2011

http://www.adventuresofalana.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html

Aug 18, 2011. Each morning I stumble over to the restaurant at 5:30am and serve breakfast to tourists (mostly those coming off or getting on cruise ships). The view from the restaurant makes up for any complaints about cold coffee or expensive prices on the menu. I found the women's race more interesting because there were two girls neck and neck the whole way and they were both Olympian cross-country skiers. This is the mountain they run up - 3000 feet of forest, mudslide trail, and rocky shale. Later i...

Mar 7, 2013. A Refreshing, Relaxing and Revitalizing Summer Break. Nate suggested some day trips to Mittenwald and Salzburg while he finished his work week (he is also an English teacher) so I went off to find some hills that were alive. Notice the shape of the flowers. I guess powdered wigs are becoming the fashion again . . . . We also took time to see Shonbrunn Palace - the summer residence of the Hapsburgs. These were a few of my favorite things . . . . Bratislava was like an older, quainter version ...

May 27, 2012. The Abaya and Other Fun Pieces of Clothing. The Saudi men also have their own special clothing and they are very proud to wear the national dress. This is known to be much cooler than Western clothing which is necessary in the summer here. Women also have different fabric material for the summer months (but still black). I also got to try on some wedding jewelry. It was heavy and this didn't even include the jewelry for the rest of the body plus all the paint they put on their faces. The wo...

Life comes at you fast. Sunday, February 19, 2012. Playing in St. George with his best buddy Treyden. These two just love each other so much! They are exactly one year apart and play so good with each other. Grady lining up his cars in a straight line. Matchbox cars are his favorite! Painting a beautiful picture. He is starting to like art a little more. Grady absolutely loves to play in the sink! My little boy is 2! For his birthday we took him the aquarium and he loved it! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Life comes at you fast. Tuesday, October 25, 2011. I love this pumpkin patch! He HAD to be out there with them. So Reg moved his highchair out to the picnic table and he ate out with the big kids. It was so cute to see him out there, not even caring that we weren't out there with him. Grady is our little Davy Crocket for Halloween this year. It is so cute! Those are the best kind! Saturday, October 15, 2011. I am slow.I know conference was awhile ago. But it was great! I am ready for this season. Wow, a ...

The Tom N Tami Family. Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Cedric at the preschool Easter Party. Family Trip to the Hogle Zoo. The zoo is one of the few places you can take four children ages 2, 5, 7 and 10 and they’re all happy (for the most part). Cedric did not like the smell in the monkey house. Playing on the playground. Cedric hasn’t hatched yet. Lily loved this wild cat and it seemed to love her too. I have to laugh at this photo. This is the typical “Sophie with her siblings” photo. Each of them got somethi...

The Tom N Tami Family. Sunday, December 28, 2014. I had the privilege of singing in a Christmas concert at the Tabernacle at Temple Square, along with my sister and brother-in-law, Sara and Bryce the weekend of Thanksgiving. The next night (Sunday) we went again with Bryce and Sara, and our kids back to Temple Square to see the lights. We didn’t get around to putting up the tree and other decorations until the following Thursday. We put up more lights than we ever have on our house. So I took the kids th...

The Tom N Tami Family. Monday, March 3, 2014. We had an exceptionally warm February. Some days were up to the low 60’s! It’s been fun to get a break from the cold and get out more. Cedric and Sophie had fun going to the park a couple of times or playing outside with friends. Cedric’s friends Jacob and Abbey came with us to the park one day. The kids loved the huge fish aquarium, the taxidermy animal displays and all the great picture spots. But of course the highlight was the ferris wheel! The kids loved...

The Running Adventures of a Latin Geek. 2012 Race Schedule and Goals. Monday, September 3, 2012. August.it was a hell of a month but I survived. Here's the Reader's Digest version:. This week or so at the beginning of the month was pretty much entirely dedicated to the move and all the details of buying our house. Every day was filled with an endless to-do list of paperwork and phone calls, but I worked my butt to make sure everything was in order before leaving for my course. Thursday is my first day of...
