Mike Jackson's Paddling Journal: July 23 - Cadboro Bay (#67)
http://mhjpaddling.blogspot.com/2015/07/july-23-cadboro-bay-67.html
Mike Jackson's Paddling Journal. A journal of my sea kayak trips. Thursday, July 23, 2015. July 23 - Cadboro Bay (#67). I went out for a quick evening paddle around Cadboro Bay in the surf ski. It was quite windy with a little chop, and you can see on the track that I got some help from the wind and current between Cattle Point and Jemmy Jones. It was good to clear the cobwebs out! There was a SUP event going on at the beach in Gyro Park. 7 km, YTD 546 km. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Mike Jackson's Paddling Journal. A journal of my sea kayak trips. Saturday, May 30, 2015. May 30th - Discovery Island (#49). Dan, George and I went for a morning paddle out to the islands. There was a steady 10-15 kt SW wind which made things more interesting. Nice sunny morning and a good paddle. By the time we returned, there was a solid ebb. 15 km, YTD 410 km. "Kayaking Dreamin": “On Deck In Newfoundland"

I think I put them there when surfing one time), and I plastic sealable bag for camera or whatever. Having a clear back deck also makes rescuing operations and re-entering in assisted rescues easier. Maybe having two clear decks is what you like, and good for you on that. If I’m worried about maps or map bags when on a trip, the deckbag provides excellent attachment points for a ma...

John's Kayak Adventures: 2015.02.261 - Canada Day Paddle
http://johnkayak.blogspot.com/2015/07/201502261-canada-day-paddle.html
Kayaking Victoria and the We(s)t Coast. Wednesday, July 1, 2015. 201502.261 - Canada Day Paddle. Louise and I went for our annual Canada Day Paddle on the Gorge. Every year, Gorge Road is closed for a mile-long block party. We don't usually see much wild life on our Canada Day paddles - most of it finds something better to do than hang around with a few thousand humans while they make music, eat food and play road hockey - but we did see something fitting for this day: Canada geese. YTD: 8.34 km. Paddle ...

John's Kayak Adventures: February 2015
http://johnkayak.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Kayaking Victoria and the We(s)t Coast. Sunday, February 15, 2015. 201501.260 - Back In the Paddle Again. Paddling my kayak wasn't so bad, but it became quite a struggle to get in and out of my boat, never mind the travails of loading, unloading and carrying it around. Last July, my knee finally reached its metaphorical breaking point, and clearly brave stoicism was not getting me very far. After an assessment with a physiotherapist, I was diagnosed with patella dislocation. Did I remember my waterbottle?

John's Kayak Adventures: March 2013
http://johnkayak.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Kayaking Victoria and the We(s)t Coast. Friday, March 29, 2013. 201303.247 - Sunny Day. The weather this March has not been great. Rainy, windy, generally blah days. But today it's 13 degrees and sunny, a gorgeous spring day, and a good Friday by any definition. The sluggish start to our paddling year continues as Louise is struggling with some small joint aches and pains. But smiles come easy on a gorgeous day like this even if you aren't feeling one hundred percent. We paddled by the local swans. With ...

John's Kayak Adventures: September 2013
http://johnkayak.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Kayaking Victoria and the We(s)t Coast. Sunday, September 8, 2013. 201309.253 - Kayak for a Cure 2013. Louise and I hit Willows Beach early this morning to join the 2013 edition of Kayak For A Cure. About 50 kayakers by my guess hit the water, some old hands at kayaking, but others were first-time newbies, and many were cancer survivors so it's a short, easy paddle to Cadboro Bay and back. But first things first. And first I get my picture taken with Marty the Marmot. We rounded Cattle Point. Pictures Fr...

Narrow Escape: My Paddling Adventures: March 2009
http://thenarrowescape.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Narrow Escape: My Paddling Adventures. This blog contains my adventures for time spent out on the water. I paddle a yellow Seaward 16'2" Cosma TX. This boat is 51 lbs, has a beam of 23" and a depth of 13.78". I live in Victoria, BC on the south coast of Vancouver Island and these are my adventures. Monday, March 23, 2009. Now being a "veteran" paddler of one year, I take great delight in watching the tourists narrowly avoid floatplanes, ferries, pickleboats, and other harbour traffic.
