Who runs the world? GIRLS | Jessi la Exploradora
https://adventureswithjessi.wordpress.com/2015/06/29/who-run-the-world-girls
Mi Vida Loca: Peace Corps Colombia. Skip to primary content. Who runs the world? June 29, 2015. Today is the day, I am going to run in peace! You see, I was coming into this situation with my holier than thou, American attitude. America is the land of the freedom and equality! Of course things like this don’t happen where I come from! Well those are important so the boys aren’t distracted from their education! Aauworg) Obviously, I needed to take a good long look in the mirror before I judged my new home.

Mi Vida Loca: Peace Corps Colombia. Skip to primary content. When the dog bites…. July 15, 2015. I am really happy! It’s great. I’ve been here for almost 11 months, can you believe it? I know I sure can’t. If you’ve been keeping up with my blog or I talk to you on a semi-regular basis, you know I’ve certainly had my ups and downs but for awhile now, I’ve been cruising at a pretty high altitude. (Omg that was so cheesy I almost deleted it but I figured what the hell, who doesn’t love cheese? The delight o...

Mi Vida Loca: Peace Corps Colombia. Skip to primary content. We’re going to be fine. June 21, 2015. Long time no talk. I’ve been pretty busy with little projects and things and then, I spent the last 8 days with my family! I was so lucky to have them come visit. It was an amazing week. Wanna hear about it? I hope so because that’s really all I’ve got for this blog. Catcalls are NEVER compliments. If you think this, you are wrong. Fact. Just don’t do it. I cannot stress this enough. In case you haven̵...

Timeline – Corps Close-Up
https://carrieinpeacecorps.wordpress.com/timeline
A Peace Corps Journey from Jordan to Colombia. Because I found other blogs timelines exceedingly helpful during my application process, I kept track of my own. There is a line break between my COS of my service in Jordan and my reapplication. Note: because of my status as a PCJordan Evacuee, I did not have to re-interview or do some of the other steps of the application process, this sped up my application. September 2013 –. Began speaking with PC recruiters and attending PC events. Researched each post:...

A coastal Colombia Christmas. In the United States, at least in the Midwest, there are several signs that Christmas is coming:. Lights arrive at Target in September and October, around the same time as the hats, mittens, and gloves (that way you can get them up before the roof’s just a sheet of snow and ice). As soon as November 1, marketing at all stores is all about Christmas. Mint and gingerbread-flavored things appear. That one oldies station starts playing non-stop Christmas music. Día de las Velitas.

Students who choose to learn. To learn. (Okay, so this is true no matter what culture/circumstance I am in.). These are people who spent as many as 3 hours a week with me learning English. Some of them are interested in learning to open up job opportunities. About 10 of them sell goods at a weekly craft fair and want to have the skills to be able to talk to the occasional tourists who come by. Some of them want to be able to travel. Some just plain want to learn. FOR WHEN MY BLOG IS UPDATED! I'm Brianna ...

A year in Colombia. A year ago today I arrived in Colombia. To begin my journey with Peace Corps. A year ago today I left Wisconsin to get to Miami; what follows is just as true! I was calmer than I had expected to be, only nervous about what my host family would be like. I sweat a lot, the 100 degree shift from January in Wisconsin to January on the Caribbean coast not sitting well with my body. But neither did the air conditioner in the hotel, set to 16 – which in Fahrenheit is 61. I had never heard of...

Thanks for the pic, Google Maps. Colombia’s history is rich and complex; what follows is a super-simple recap of the most important events that led to Colombia being what it is now. It continued (my way is better than your way! Colombia lived in peace for a few years…then in 1948 the Liberal leader was assassinated, and his people took up arms, starting what is known as. The Violence). It was extra bloody, leaving 300,000 dead – one of the deadliest wars in the western Hemisphere. In 1953 t...Around this...

Cepeda started out in the 90’s in a band with some friends from his youth. After 8 years together, they broke up and Cepeda continued his musical career as a solo artist – a very successful one. In 2012, Cepeda’s album.
