Adventures with Pegasus

Saturday, 16 October 2010. Indonesia 1 Banda and Ambon. Indonesia 1 Banda and Ambon. Arriving in Banda on 27th July, we were all pretty excited about Indonesia and our next adventure. Anchoring in the pre dawn, we sat on deck watching the world wake up with the humid scent of the tropics, and palm fringed jungle around us. This gave the Dutch a complete monopoly on nutmeg and mace, at the time worth more per pound than gold, that amazingly lasted until 1817 when nutmeg trees were captured and planted on ...

Adventures with Pegasus: April 2010

http://adventureswithpegasus.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Friday, 30 April 2010. We arrived at the Fremantle Sailing Club after a difficult night but were met by the efficient and friendly Harbour Master, who took our lines and gave us a brief run down of the club. We made ourselves fast and headed off for a hot shower, followed by a bacon sandwich on board. All seemed rosy once more. Its not easy to be on land and its always difficult for Amanda to keep the boys amused while off the boat, and safe while in the yard. Everything gets filthy, and its a strugg...

Wednesday, 18 August 2010. Australia 8 The Kimberley 1. Australia 8 The Kimberley 1. We had been looking forward to cruising the Kimberley region and finally had arrived. It was the start of what would be six weeks cruising virgin Australian country, with numerous anchorages, as we made our way slowly towards Darwin and our exit point from Australia. With an engine speed of just 6kts you dont need to be a mathematician to work out the potential result! I guess we were going to see them! We arrived at Mel...

Adventures with Pegasus: February 2010

http://adventureswithpegasus.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 24 February 2010. Australia 2 Sydney to Adelaide. Australia 2 Sydney to Adelaide. Having watched the wind carefully while in Australia, I knew that the grib files were often inaccurate and that most afternoons a strong sea breeze could easily add 15 kts to forecast, wind speed. We had a number of weather systems to progress through, and with cold fronts rolling through the southern ocean every 4 days or so we had to get our timing right if we wanted to have a fair passage. Whilst alongside, a ...

A few sailing photos. Pegasus. the end of a chapter. We have had a fantastic 6 years with Pegasus and have met some remarkable people. Things never seem to be simple and straight forward when it comes to boats and this one will probably not disappoint in that regard these were the opening words in the eagerly awaited e mail from designer Chris White in Jan 2007. In addition we have bought an old RHIB to help us get about and lookforward to some memorable fishing and fun around the solent next year.

Adventures With Patti

This blog started when Gauss got a job in California, so after a lifetime in Minnesota, I was wrapping my brain around the idea of moving west. The blog is now a place where I post new adventures as they come up. Sunday, December 14, 2014. Parking was a little confusing so before we entered the turnstiles we hailed the station agent, whose back was turned to us. When he turned around, we were all shocked: Eddie from the running club! He was no longer running due to an injury so we hadn't seen him on rece...

A baby blog that's just a little nuts. Out of the fog: Where have I been for the past 20 months? January 26, 2015. Aint nobody got time for dry-clean-only clothes. Kitchen utensils are cheaper than buying Montessori learning toys and they are basically the same thing. Poop isn’t really THAT gross. There are MANY different varieties of vomit. A “full night sleep” is in the eye of the beholder. Elmo Is. Everything. Putting lotion on a toddler professional bull riding. Clean floors are overrated. Kids are t...
