Life outside med
http://aubreythinksthat.blogspot.com/2015/03/life-outside-med.html
And then I asked myself, "Why are you on this cheap train Aubrey? One, because I am bored. I'm not bored always (okay, not plenty, but sometimes a lot), but whenever I find lag time I feel like I deserve something less mind wringing. Sometimes the mere thought thinking after a long day tires me out it seems indulging on these convenient, visual bites is the easiest way to go about it. But then I figured, what of it is real? Realizations of a two week med student
http://aubreythinksthat.blogspot.com/2010/06/realizations-of-two-week-med-student.html
Realizations of a two week med student. Do you know the feeling when riding a roller coaster you hear the machine grate and rumble into motion? Before you realize it, you're speeding 60 miles per hour, your wits barely with you, and everything becomes a blur of hazy unrecognizable images. All you know is you're moving fast, too fast you can't even think, or feel your heart trying to escape from your chest. Now imagine Med school. Now for the fun part. And no med people are not really big nerdos. My c...

Interview for Med application at FEU NRMF
http://aubreythinksthat.blogspot.com/2009/02/interview-for-med-application-at-feu.html
Interview for Med application at FEU NRMF. My interview at FEU-NRMF today went well. It was candid actually. Good thing I didn't fret much over it. My advice for future med applicants at FEU: don't sweat it. The interview is only 20% of the criteria for admission. (Click here for the 2009 admissions criteria. The largest chunk would still come from your undergraduate course. The pre interview (aka orientation. It made me ask myself why I want to be a surgeon though. As of now I really don't know....Hi ag...

When doctors become nurses
http://aubreythinksthat.blogspot.com/2009/05/when-doctors-become-nurses.html
When doctors become nurses. Whenever I chance upon a composition I have written a long time ago, a jolt of excitement runs through my senses. Reading my work, as close to how a fully disinterested person would, makes me quite excited. It's like evaluating your work with a fresh eye. An excerpt from an essay I wrote, and posted almost a month ago. It might be easy to brandish the cliche 'follow your dreams'. But life is not all about dreams- we need to work, survive, and have decent source of living w...

So What Now Clerk?
http://aubreythinksthat.blogspot.com/2013/08/so-what-now-clerk.html
So What Now Clerk? Lesson 1: You will not die from clerkship. Remember the feeling of starting med school? How fish out water we all felt? As is distinctly Aubrey, the next lessons will be delivered in the next posts. Lesson 2: Clerks are every bit as doctors as their residents. Lesson 3: Clerkship is tiring but undoubtedly rewarding. Managing time as a med student
http://aubreythinksthat.blogspot.com/2011/01/managing-time-as-med-student.html
Managing time as a med student. Surviving in med is not about being the most intelligent. It's about being well adjusted and knowing how to focus and prioritize. You may have the whole day to do a report in Biochemistry but that doesn't mean you can't squeeze in an hour or two to read a chapter in Physiology. It's nice to be all whimsical about time management. But in crude detail, things that helped me are David Allen's Getting Things Done (Google Getting Things Done) and Cal Newport's Study Hacks.

NMAT Review resources
http://aubreythinksthat.blogspot.com/2009/03/nmat-review-resources.html
Since I believe that the odds are almost equal, whether I enroll in a review center or on my own, I have chosen the the self study road and consequently saved myself some thousands of pesos. Resources are as equally important as determination itself. Since I already have related resources from my BSN days, I have a ready arsenal. If you don't have much yourself, consider borrowing textbooks from friends or the library (buying new stuff defeats the advantage of saving money). Review quite helpful in remem...

PGH Internship
http://aubreythinksthat.blogspot.com/2014/08/pgh-internship.html
I dismissed these feelings as birthing pains. After all, I'm a firm believer that all good things require genuine effort, sacrifice, and consistency; that is persevering despite and inspite of how you feel, because even if you feel bad today, it always does get better eventually. And maybe, I thought, I was just tired. Working in a public hospital made me aware of the realities of poverty that no book nor documentary could ever make you fully understand. Totoo nga, nakakamatay ang kahirapan. I'm a writer...
