Fisherfolks of Cebu, Philippines. Photos by Robert Gardner. The sea is never far away and provides a livelihood and sustenance to all the towns that dot the coasts. I was visiting friends in a rural part of Cebu and one day the local fishermen set out their net along the beach. It was truly a community effort with many families helping with setting and hauling the net and sharing the catch. These photos are a vignette of life in a corner of the Philippines. Located 275-km north of Manila (100-km from Baguio) near the provincial capital of Bontoc it's a long day's bus ride starting from the Dangwa bus station in Baguio over the narrow mountain tracks traversing the Cordilleras.
