Climbing Helmet (must be approved for climbing) – climbers can bring their own or Exum will supply (helmets must be worn at all times – while climbing and when you are anywhere near the base of the ice). RECOMMENDED FOR ALL CLIMBERS. Eye protection ski goggles or sun glasses. Dress as warm as possible, in layers, no cotton. Waterproof or soft-shell jacket and pants. Thick wool or synthetic socks.

On Friday Head Guide David Bosworth checked out the ice for open climbing and determined that white, soft, wet conditions with little freezing weather in sight warranted closing the park for the season. I was raised in Colorado with three siblings by two very hard-working parents; my dad was a geologist involved in gold exploration in the US and abroad, and my mother taught elementary in the public school district for twenty years. I graduated in the top of my class from Evergreen High School in 1981 and from Stanford University. Rather than following a corporate path, I chose a rewarding career in the outdoors. I came to the Tetons in 1998 with my husband, Christian Santelices. And Leysin, Switzerland.
