David Lynch introduced aikido to New Zealand in 1965 after his initial sojourn of three years in Japan, including 18 months as a full-time student (uchideshi) in the Yoshinkan Dojo in Tokyo. David's Japanese wife, Hisae (3rd-dan Yoshinkan) practises ikebana and is a counsellor in the Seicho no Ie truth movement, a Japanese school of meditation with historical links to aikido. David and Hisae have completed a new dojo. He has also maintains his own weblog, which can be found here.
