Great Hotton | AJModels

https://ajmodels.wordpress.com/great-hotton

Modelling the Great Northern Railway network around Bradford in the 50s. Bowling St. Goods. Great Hotton was my attempt at modelling the former Great Northern Railway station at Great Horton in 4mm (00). The project has now been permanently shelved following moisture damage to the layout. A new replacement layout is being planned based on another part of the Queensbury Lines railway system. What is Great Hotton? The new layout would be built to several criteria:. The Queensbury lines closed to passengers...

Modelling the Great Northern Railway network around Bradford in the 50s. Bowling St. Goods. I elected to focus on the coal drops and the yard area behind them since it was nicely framed to the east by the banana warehouse and the stables and to the west by the grain shed, behind it all was an embankment carrying the original LB&HJR main line heading down to Adolphus Street train shed. In addition there are still some remains of the drops and the banana warehouse in-place. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

NER Diag 196 Horsebox – Printed Prototype | AJModels

Modelling the Great Northern Railway network around Bradford in the 50s. Bowling St. Goods. July 16, 2015. NER Diag 196 Horsebox – Printed Prototype. Back from Shapeways yesterday was the prototype horsebox model…. The roof arrived in a separate bag so I’m not sure if they’ve printed it like that or if they removed it or it became detached from the sprue during cleaning. It’s not a big deal and this is what it should look like after printing:. And with the parts separated and placed loosely together:.

Bowling Street Goods – Ballasting | AJModels

https://ajmodels.wordpress.com/2015/08/11/bowling-street-goods-ballasting

Modelling the Great Northern Railway network around Bradford in the 50s. Bowling St. Goods. August 11, 2015. Bowling Street Goods – Ballasting. My first mode of attack was the paint on glue (Copydex) and then sprinkle on method. I found it difficult to get the glue where it was needed and not where it wasn’t needed. Also it was tedious beyond compare. Fortunately, once dry the latex can easily be pulled up along with the ballast. This was duly done and back to square one. Posted in Bowling Street Goods.

Scribblings from Kashmir Cottage. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Culreoch – The Layout. Monthly Archives: June 2015. June 13, 2015. Anyway. I note the anniversary and I’m sure the other modellers who recreate the Galloway lines’ heydays will also bear it in mind as they work on their layouts. It’s turned out allright, given I’ve never got on with plasticard much before. Rainwater goods would finish it off nicely. It would have been nice to have this mechanically finished as a nod to ...

Llangunllo.: February 2015

http://radnorailways.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Modelling the Western in Mid Wales (EM). Thursday, 26 February 2015. This, that and the other. I've never had the luxury of an airbrush so I just gave them a few passes of white acrylic primer from an aerosol can, left them to harden and turned my attention to adding some slates to the half timbered cottage roof. For a good few years I've been happy to use the Wills roof slates which don't look too bad once all the visible edges have been thinned down but for the cottage I decided to try these. My first ...

Modelling the West Highland Railway and Beyond. A West Highland Stalwart – Building a Gem D34 ‘Glen’ →. Converting a Bachmann K3 to LNER K4 – Part 1. In my wisdom (or lack of), I decided for my version I’d try and produce the boiler in brass as an exercise to improve my soldering and it proved very worthwhile as my soldering has improved greatly since I started my first conversion. Below is the beginnings of a boiler in the raw:. Then trimming to shape. Soldered to the smokebox. More to follow in part 2.

Modelling the West Highland Railway and Beyond. A Ray of Sunshine…. The sun came out today so I thought I’d grab a shot of Glen Roy outside in the Autumn air. A West Highland Stalwart – Building a Gem D34 ‘Glen’. This kit is showing it’s age. As you can see from the photo below, the upper part of the frames is not well formed. What you can’t see from the photo is the two halves of the boiler being different lengths! I decided the Triang bogie and coupling rods wouldn’t cut the mustard, so replaced ...

Ouse Valley Modeller is a blog about my 4mm OO gauge modelling, my observations mostly about Sussex railways in the 1950's and my layout Herstmonceux. May 1, 2015. May 1, 2015. A while ago I had decided that I wanted a BR Mk 1 set for Herstmonceux and that it had to be Blood and Custard livery. Why this livery and not the usual BR Green? Well I like the Blood and Custard livery for starters and I think it looks smart on the Mk 1’s. Original Roof is at the bottom and the trimmed at the top. Also added to ...

http://radnorailways.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-allotment-plot_15.html

Modelling the Western in Mid Wales (EM). Thursday, 2 July 2015. Just before we left these shores for a holiday in the Mediterranean I completed the allotments save for a few typical ramshackle huts which are a feature of such plots. Using ideas taken from Chris Pilton's article in MRJ No.5 and Barry Normans 'Landscape Modelling' book I had set about modelling some vegetables and other produce using tissue paper, brush bristles and various other scenic materials. Someone on the footplate is taking a keen ...
