Niko Niko House: Moving forward
http://niko-niko-house.blogspot.com/2011/09/moving-forward.html
Building the Metricon Laguna. Friday, 2 September 2011. There are some great news today! First we received the report from our independent inspector Howard Ryan. He found a few other minor issues we haven't noticed at the PCI. But other than that the report gives an award to our site supervisor for delivering a house of a high standard of finish. Given that's the 14th award of this type out of 8000 inspection he gives, this makes us very happy to know Metricon has delivered a quality product.

Niko Niko House: March 2011
http://niko-niko-house.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Building the Metricon Laguna. Saturday, 26 March 2011. More bricks to see. The front of the house did not seem to have changed since last weekend. But at least some work has been done at the back. There isn't much progress but at least we can see how the bricks look with the mortar. The bricks looks much lighter with the mortar. Close up of the dropped edge beam (about 1m high). After cleaning it should look much like the sample wall at Austral Bricks. Sunday, 20 March 2011. Bricking started. sort of.

Niko Niko House: June 2011
http://niko-niko-house.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Building the Metricon Laguna. Tuesday, 28 June 2011. As we are rethinking our landscaping plan we went to Mr Bamboo. To get some advice on which type of bamboo we could use as a screen between us and our neighbour to the South of our land. The plan we lodged (in a hurry) with our DA included Tiger Grass for screening but we prefer bamboo. Slender Weaver grows up to 6 metres (but we will trim it to 3 metres). Close up of the leaves. Saturday, 25 June 2011. There is a kitchen! I talked to our customer serv...

Building the Metricon Laguna. Wednesday, 31 August 2011. Nothing can ever be simple when building a new home. We learnt that our Private Certifier Authority (PCA) cannot issue our interim certificate of occupancy until we comply with condition #25 of the council's development consent. Condition #25 is the addition of a privacy screen on our front balcony. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Close look at the house exterior. We have a garage door. The Blogs I Follow. Niko Niko House: Electrical Selections
http://niko-niko-house.blogspot.com/2010/11/electrical-selections.html
Building the Metricon Laguna. Friday, 26 November 2010. Not much is happening with the council. We are waiting for our DA to be reviewed at the next DAU (Development Assessment Unit) meeting, which is on the 7th December. In the meantime we finally locked down our electrical selections, after five revisions of the electrical plan. Our electrical upgrades ends up being just under $10K. Ouch! Here is what we've added to the standard electrical plan:. External junction boxes for future lights. An additional...

straw sticks & bricks: January 2011
http://strawsticksandbricks.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 31, 2011. Spying is ok when its posted free for all. Ok, so I have been stalking some blogs of people that are building with Eden Brae - we all pick from the same home gallery etc - so I thought it would be worth it. It seems browns and greys are big. Grey it seems is the safer option for floors with people. It annoys me that brown is happening because I don't want to be like everyone else. oh well - we will go with what works. The brown bathroom does work with edenbraebuild. I looked thr...

Niko Niko House: PCI
http://niko-niko-house.blogspot.com/2011/08/pci.html
Building the Metricon Laguna. Monday, 29 August 2011. Today was our PCI (Practical Completion Inspection). It went for a good two hours at the end of which we had a list of 10 or so issues. Not much, really. We are quite happy with the quality of the work. Well done, Metricon! We put many blue stickers to point any scratches that will need to be patched. Our SS himself added a few we haven't even spotted. He was quite helpful and really trying to make us the customer happy. Nice. The big ones are:. The B...
