Where in the world are we?: June 2011

http://danielle-bigadventure.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Where in the world are we? Wednesday, June 15, 2011. Bali for our 10th Anniversary. Hard to believe that we have been married for ten years already but it's true! Singapore was just like everyone says, extremely clean and the people are very polite and respectful. We did go to Sentosa Island and spend a day looking around. But we also found time to stop for a Singapore Sling while we were there! And some of the biggest bugs I have ever seen! Wally, the owner of the villa, was there waiting patiently for ...

Where in the world are we? Wednesday, January 19, 2011. New Year, new hobby. I a really looking forward to expanding my bread making into something a little heavier and with grains and seeds in it but think I will have to ease Andrew into it to get him to try something new. I know I have let my blog go for a few months but I will try to catch up and continue to blog in a more timely manor with the new year! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Create your own visitor map! http://danielle-bigadventure.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

Where in the world are we? Sunday, December 20, 2009. The other thing I attempted this weekend is to learn to draw. I have never considered myself the least bit artsy as I seem to have trouble drawing straight lines and cutting out things. When I was required to take art class in school I was a solid "C" student and I suspect that was just because the teacher felt sorry for me more than I actually earned it! And now for a Christmas tale to leave you with. I'm wondering what Santa brought just for me.

Where in the world are we? Tuesday, June 29, 2010. A Tour of Tuscany. So, after my intense week of training in Switzerland at the Bernina Creative Center Andrew and I had agreed to meet in Rome for some well deserved R&R. Even though we flew in from two totally different countries we actually landed within ten minutes of each other. That almost never happens for us! So, we parked up and started walking like mountain goats up these cobble stone streets looking for the elusive Cafe Roggi. We finally fo...

Where in the world are we? Friday, November 27, 2009. It's Friday, it's Eid and it's raining! Sew, what better way to spend my time than a little project. I bought this fabric when I was in Texas last year and just never got around to doing anything with it. Any guesses on what I decided to make with the fun fabric? Tuesday, November 24, 2009. Is it wrong to love your quilt? I know pictures don't really do things justice but if you could see this quilt up close you would understand the way I feel! We wil...

Where in the world are we? Monday, June 29, 2009. Fun Traveling - Part Two. When I left Texas I flew to London and then on to Athens to join Andrew where he was working in Kinetta, Greece. We stayed at an all-inclusive resort right on the seaside. This was the view from our room. Nothing but villas and olive trees with a mountain in the horizon. Andrew had to work so I suffered through the days by the pool. I know, German food in Greece? But they told me it was the best and they were right! Some of us we...

Where in the world are we? Thursday, February 17, 2011. Andrew - My Shining Star. So, it seems every time I turn around Andrew is busy doing this or doing that and it does get tiring for him but this is one particular time that I am incredibly proud of him. Not only was his picture in the local paper but also the front page of the company intranet which reach over 76,000 employees. And then was asked to pass on the award to Abdulhamid at the Britain in Kuwait Expo for the press. As if that isn't enough, ...

Where in the world are we? Wednesday, May 19, 2010. So, I took Lilly her cup and showed her how the dolphin fins moved and made little noises and she wouldn't put it down after that. Lilly turned three in April so I asked Meagan to make a tutu for her and she absolutely loves it! She calls it her "tutu train" and wears it everywhere. She also made some great burp cloths and a wipey cover in sports fabric for Brody. I think it helps Lilly remember me better. Then the week before I flew out Claudia and I w...

Where in the world are we? Monday, April 13, 2009. Quilting the winter away. So what better way to spend the winter than at your sewing machine? I signed up to take another class here with my friend Betsy. After three classes we stopped and decided we could finish at home at our own pace. I have just come to realize I do not enjoy speed quilting. But I am glad I took the class and learned a couple of new techniques which I will hopefull by able to use in the future for new projects. Where in the world are we? Tuesday, August 25, 2009. Well, I finally mustered up the courage to load Brandon's quilt on the quilting frame and start quilting it. This is very intimidating to me as I have really only every quilted one quilt on my own but I knew I had no more excuses since Andrew bought the frame for me for my birthday. Wednesday, August 19, 2009. New additions to the Houston family. Andrew has been asking for an upright bass for the last couple of years. So, this year he took the libe...

Alanna on the Inside. A blog about living and finding freedom while incarcerated. Good Day to you all! I hope this post finds you all in good health and spirits, and that you’ve all been able to enjoy the sunshine. I’ve been outside as often as my job allows, and I’m now sporting a tan. Unfortunately, due to clothing restrictions, it looks as though I’ve been wearing a wrestling suit from 1972 while sunbathing. But, I’ll take what I can get!
