Most of Alastair Lockwood's art is available as giclée prints, please visit the gallery. To view the images. Giclée (zhee-clay) is a French term, in this case meaning spray of ink . A giclée is a means of reproducing an original. It is not an original graphic but a fine quality reproduction print. Giclée prints render deep, saturated colours and have a beautiful painterly quality that retains minute detail, subtle tints and blends.

My Artwork, even from an early age, has been inspired by graphic realism. The process of turning the surface of a blank sheet of paper into an illusion that the viewer considers so real that they could almost reach in and touch is what both fascinates and drives me forward. Although I don't have any particular specialist subject matter, the themes of contrast, detail and reflection are usually present in my work with attention to detail becoming increasingly more important to me over the last few years.

Back To The Drawing Board: Angel of Chanterlands
http://andy-back-to-the-drawing-board.blogspot.com/2009/03/angel-of-chanterlands.html
Back To The Drawing Board. Saturday, 21 March 2009. Graphite Pencil on Paper. This was drawn from my own reference photo, taken in an old cemetery. Not far from where I live, very overgrown and Victorian, lots of weathered stones and gnarly trees. There may be more from there in the future. I do have a bit of a thing for those gnarly leafless trees. I'm really enjoying the way your work is going Andy, keep it up. you seem like you're getting a lot out of it. It's great to see. 10 April 2009 at 06:04.

Back To The Drawing Board. Friday, 23 January 2009. Virtual Sketch date - January. Watercolour and Coloured Pencil on Paper. Bit of a tough cookie this month's VSD, or so I thought anyway. This is actually version two, the first I messed the background up but liked the clementine itself. I'm still not really happy with this one but it's ok. There are some really great versions done by the other artists participating, definitely worth checking out, on the VSD. These are both fabulous Andy! I can't tell...

Back To The Drawing Board: Moleskine
http://andy-back-to-the-drawing-board.blogspot.com/2009/01/moleskine.html
Back To The Drawing Board. Sunday, 4 January 2009. For Christmas I was lucky enough to get a couple of Moleskine sketchbooks, one regular and one watercolour. Had to get past using that first page, with a pencil drawing of my ear. I wonder what will be in the rest of it. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). East Yorkshire, United Kingdom. Back To The Drawing Board: August 2008
http://andy-back-to-the-drawing-board.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Back To The Drawing Board. Friday, 29 August 2008. Virtual Sketch Date - August. Here are my contributions to the August Virtual Sketch Date. From the reference photo I first used graphite pencil on a smooth Daler. Rowney paper. I'd decided early on I wanted to use the indenting technique for the veins in the leaves. I drew the image freehand on to tracing paper, including the veins, then transferred it to the paper. I really enjoyed doing this one. Thursday, 28 August 2008. Coloured Pencil on Paper.

Back To The Drawing Board: July 2008
http://andy-back-to-the-drawing-board.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Back To The Drawing Board. Wednesday, 30 July 2008. Graphite Pencil on paper. This is my newest piece, finished last night actually and I'm quite pleased with it, I like the snake-like coils and the rough, battered texture. It's the first large-ish drawing I've done in a long time, my other efforts have been confined to sketchbooks. Here's a couple of keys I did recently. I've now learned that this sketchbook scans quite blue-ish (the page is whiter than that in reality) and shows waves at the edge.

Back To The Drawing Board: Grapes
http://andy-back-to-the-drawing-board.blogspot.com/2009/03/grapes.html
Back To The Drawing Board. Monday, 2 March 2009. 21cm x 16.5cm. Graphite Pencil on Paper. A new drawing (finished today). I enjoy getting into the complicated details, like the stems of the grapes. Hopefully it works as well as I think it does. Drawn from a reference photo I took myself, the grapes were eaten long ago :o) . Bloody hell Andy you are really getting somewhere, the sensitivity in the drawing is tremendous. I've not been by for a while, great work of late. 9 March 2009 at 18:55. Paintings fro...
