February 16, 2015. On being creative a winter scone recipe. There is no such thing as creative and non-creative people. Only people who exercise their creativity and those that don’t. – Brené Brown. I listened to a podcast interview with sociologist, book author and TEDtalk celebrity Brené Brown. While I was on the way to Tanzania (more on that in the coming weeks! In other words, I’m looking forward to letting myself be a bit more vulnerable here. Barely adapted from Cook’s Illustrated Magazine. 2 Whisk...

March 1, 2015. Tanzania Part 2: The Ngorongoro Crater. While it was extremely hard to leave Mahale, we were in for another amazing destination. After a bumpy boat ride back to the Mahale airstrip (really the opposite of our smooth ride there) we boarded another small plane that took us to Manyara. In Manyara we were greeted by our guide and driver Nathan, who would be with us for quite a while. Nathan then drove us to Plantation Lodge. And went swimming in the pool. Tanzania Part 3: Southern Serengeti.

thoughts on fat shaming + homemade granola bars | Michelle Arbus
http://www.michellearbus.com/2015/08/03/thoughts-on-fat-shaming-homemade-granola-bars
August 3, 2015. Thoughts on fat shaming homemade granola bars. Why is it still socially acceptable to discriminate against fat people? I’m not going to get into the ‘whether or not fat is a choice’ conversation. All I’m going to say is that every person is born with a different body type, and that in most cases, someone’s body size is not a direct reflection on their level of health. All you have to do is look at some of the awesome fat. About being a fat bride. Or this amazing looking film Fattitude.

July 1, 2015. Caesar salad with smoky chickpea croutons healthy eating. Types Finally, there’s the fact that none of them can seem to agree, and yet have no problem making proclamations about food: dairy is great/dairy is terrible for you. Eat a plant based diet/vegan diets have too many carbs. Drink fruit and vegetable juice/juice has too many sugars. No wonder people have a hard time figuring out what is healthy with all this chaos! So what do I do? Soundtrack: The Thermals – Live. Notes: Technically t...

April 2, 2015. Tanzania Part 4: Northern Serengeti & Zanzibar. While it was hard to leave the Serengeti Safari camp, it was time to move on, and we boarded another small plane bound for our next destination: the Northern Serengeti. In the North we stayed at the jaw-droppingly gorgeous Lamai. With a beautiful pool and view of the ocean. The major drawback, however, was that it was almost impossible to swim in the ocean due to the sharp coral on the shore, and the powerful currents and waves. Hotel over pa...

May 4, 2015. My favourite Toronto brunch. That being said, Toronto has some excellent places to participate in the ritual that is brunch that offer either something a little “beyond” the classic menu, or are able to deliver food that I would call “exceptional.” In no particular order, here are my favourite places for brunch in Toronto. Mildred’s Temple Kitchen. Left: Beast, Right: The Stop Cafe. Left: Joe at L’Ouvrier, Right: Me&Mine. Randomly closed. The space is fresh and beautiful, and your meal a...

February 20, 2015. Tanzania Part 1: Mahale Mountains. Around 2pm we arrived at the Mahale airstrip.
