I have read several (internet) essays refuting the idea of him being an absolute monarch. All of these essays are written by American ” libertarians “, meaning anarchist/nihilist Professors. They, inevitably, focus upon his tax policies. Of course, his tax policies were little different than any other European monarch. Still no response,eh?

The Festival of Patience. The Blog of Disquiet. April 16, 2013. An island unto islands. Posted by Spike under Uncategorized. Musette awaiting Clio’s inspiration. Clio was the Greek muse of history. She is the presiding spirit of this blog, a (rather languid) fountain of criticism and teasing. She visits only when she feels like it. Her mortal mouthpiece, known to the blogosphere as Musette, is much more excitable, being human; less funny, and more sympathetic. Strangely, Musette often finds herself in conflict with her fellow-mortals, while Clio gets on with everybody. Maclin Horton's Light On Dark Water. Search The Other World.
