I just want to take pictures: Preface
http://ijustwanttotakepictures.blogspot.com/2009/06/preface.html
Tuesday, June 16, 2009. So it was brought to my attention that the "Introduction" I had written is actually a preface. So here it is, again, re-written and drastically shorter. There is a seduction in the opportunity to combine two passions and create something. Synthesizing the original two, the experience inevitably becomes a third passion or, even, an obsession. When I finally decided to photograph, it was through the experience of it, that I located my thesis and its relationship to architect...They ...

27 Stories: October 2009
http://laurathesis.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 27, 2009. These postcards are my very small haul from the September postcard show in Burlington. I'm trying to come up with ways to insert the postcards that I've collected into my thesis book, and so far all I've got is using them as spacers between stories, even if they don't relate to the story preceding or following. Would this be wierd? Would I have to have an explination for why I placed certain cards in certain places? Elliot Lake, Ontario. Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The 100 - 43-45.

I just want to take pictures: They may graduate me yet...
http://ijustwanttotakepictures.blogspot.com/2009/06/they-may-graduate-me-yet.html
Thursday, June 11, 2009. They may graduate me yet. An excerpt from "Mediations in Architecture and in the Urban Landscape" by Ignasi de Sola-Morales. Perhaps the veracity that we can concede to the media [graphic, literary, photographic], which enable us to acquire knowledge of architecture and urban landscapes, makes these media inescapable and essential to our approximation of this reality. Monday, March 22, 2010. It starts after Halloween. There’s no specific when it happens, it’s a gradual building throughout the month of November, and then Wham! Its full-blown presence hits on December first. Christmas lights on houses, around windows, wrapping around trees and lining driveways. Blow-up Santas and snowmen frolic on front lawns and atop roofs. Rudolph leads the other eight reindeer across neighbourhoods, and candy canes and cedar wreaths adorn doors and windows. There is a television show...

A collection of Waterloo Architecture in Cambridge master's students' blogs. The need to buy and the desire to buy has refined itself over and over again. The past has shown us that the politics of a plan or the spectacle of a ceiling always embedded a specific message. And as the goods created by a tastemaker embodies aspirations beyond the product’s original intrinsic value, so do these spaces for the life of each citizen. FOLLOW THE BLOG HERE. 27 Stories: Working Abstract
http://laurathesis.blogspot.com/2010/03/working-abstract.html
Sunday, March 21, 2010. I've pieced together bits of different abstracts and come up with this, it's kind of disjointed, but I think it gets across what I'm trying to do; at least better than previous attempts. Comments? 27 STORIES – ABSTRACT. The inspiration for this thesis came from Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities. A series of fifty-five stories describing the travels of Marco Polo. Individually, each city is fictitious, but together they make up Marco Polo’s Venice. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
