Scribbly Cottage: December 2010

Friday, December 31, 2010. Boxing Day walk to Cadgwith. Cadgwith is a picturesque fishing village nestled down at the tip of Cornwall, near the Lizard. A mecca for tourists with very un-vehicle friendly streets (unless you have a boat! We parked in the free carpark up the hill at Ruan Minor and with the dog bundled up in his new winter coat, headed off towards the steep footpath down into Cadgwith itself. It was a grey day with an icy wind to probe your unmuffled bits. Brrrr! Over the stone stile. The Or...

Gallo-Roman Recon. kinda. Entries by tag: web. Credo In Unum Webum. January 7th, 2010. Recent archaeological excavations at the W3C site at Sophia Antipolis, France have revealed a Roman inscription which shows that the W3C principles of an open, international and accessible Web predate W3C by almost two millenia. You can see the stone in its geographic context. Of 43 37' 1.54" N, 7 4' 4.75" E on Panoramio. The inscription, which has yet to be added to CIL, reads. Credo In Unum Webum.

Gallo-Roman Recon. kinda. January 3rd, 2010. For anyone who watched and liked Avatar; and ideally, is a linguistics/I18n geek as well). Its possible to learn na'Vi. The language spoken by the indigenous blue-skinned beings of Pandora. The producers of the film actually went to the trouble to have a linguistics professor create a constructed language with a consistent phonology, vocabulary and an interesting grammar that reflects how their society is organized. 2010-01-04 03:54 am (UTC).

Gallo-Roman Recon. kinda. January 4th, 2010. Taken late last year; it had been (one of the few) gloriously sunny days in late December. The sun was setting and lit up the tops of the buildings. I liked this one of the neo-classical scene on the pediment of the Palais de Justice in the old part of Nice. (Photo links to other sizes). Nikon D90, Cosina Voigtländer Color Skopar 20mm f/3.5. Fred's blog: steam trains, coach trips and British food: December 2014

Fred's blog: steam trains, coach trips and British food. A journey into the mysterious world of semi-retirement. I don't usually blog trips up to That London, but seeing as I do it so infrequently these days I suppose it counts as a day out. It was the annual pilgrimage to the Lexington to see my favourite band David Devant and his Spirit Wife, but I thought I'd go up early to catch an exhibition or two. On my way to Leighton House. To see the Perez Simon Collection. Just round the corner! Opposite Eusto...

Friday, August 19, 2011. Yes, it does sometimes! This summer has been a disappointment, apart from the early bit so when the sun does come out, it's wise to make the most of it! Looking past the lifeguard hut towards St Ives. I adore these firey crocosmia, they set the hedgerows and moors ablaze! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Living and working in Kernow with my lovely hubby and Jack Russell Charlie. View my complete profile. Magic seaweed surf forecast. Penny and Toby's jewellery.

Monday, February 14, 2011. We went for a nice Saturday morning stroll over Gwithian beach. The swell was heavy and waves were breaking high against the lighthouse rocks. One poor lady misjudged the waves as they broke on the beach, and got caught with her little dog! She saw the water coming too late, tried to run for it.but fell over! The 'Better Half' surveys the scene. No surfing today, me 'ansome! At least the dog's happy, snuffling and scratching in the sand. And aptly named for it's appearance.
