A2 English literature

Thursday, February 17, 2011. Doctor Faustus reading journal - Prologue, Act 1 - 5. The play starts with a chorus. Similar structure to the Greek plays, suggesting that perhaps this play will be a tragedy or a comedy? Link to the Icarus myth 'his waxen wings did mount above his reach' suggesting that a similar fate awaits Faustus - that his intrigue and lust for knowledge and power will get the better of him and result in his downfall. Good' and 'evil' angels - representing the two sides of his conscience...

http://aliteraryfest.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Monday, October 18, 2010. The witches talk in rhyming couplets which gives the language a recitive and chant like feel. Each apparition is signifcant to Macbeths down fall and relate to his life. The first, an armed head,. Sunday, October 17, 2010. A2 English literature: Frankenstein reading journal: Preface - Letter IV

http://aliteraryfest.blogspot.com/2010/11/frankenstein-reading-journal-preface.html

Sunday, November 14, 2010. Frankenstein reading journal: Preface - Letter IV. Says its written by P.B. Shelley - instead of Mary Shelly - is there a reason for this? Says what will happen 'is not of impossible occurrence' which will make the novel, and its subject more real, and therefore more scary and Gothic. Describes the content as 'supernatural terrors' - Gothic nature. Set in a 'cold and rainy' season - pathetic fallacy creating a Gothic mood immediately. Gothic trait of dreams and madness hinted at.

Monday, September 27, 2010. The significance of Fleance's Presence: Produces slight irony as both of the witches predicted Kings are on the stage. Introduces the Character of Banquo's son which is important for the end of the play. Macbeth attempts to deceive Banquo on his feelings towards the witches and what they had said. Doesn't realise that Banquo has been equally worried by the foresight. Hallusiantion - is he seeing a dagger? Sunday, September 26, 2010. Macbeth and the Gothic act 1. Battle is prod...

A Literary Illusion | (it's a pun)

30 December 2016 · 5:52 pm. Goodbye, Sweet Soren. Today I said goodbye to Soren, certified Good Dog. It was a hard day. It’s been a hard month. Soren would make a great name for a dog. And then for the next two years I talked to everyone I knew about the future dog (breed as yet undetermined) that I would get after I finished school and got my own place, and whom I would name Soren without a line through the o. Definitely one of the most embarrassing dog-mama moments of my life. The Old Man and the Sea.

Troubles of A Novelist. On a website like Word Press it is not uncommon to stumble across blogs of. Authors who journal away their thoughts, frustrations, and progress. In this vast community of very different people, very different writers, we all have one thing in common for sure: we write because we love to. The tabs are rather self-explanatory and I hope you find some form of humor and amusement from them and I hope you take away something from my (often) disjointed thoughts. Enter your comment here.
