Hawthorn Bay: Surprise gifts & disappearances..
http://hawthornbay.blogspot.com/2016/06/surprise-gifts-disappearances.html
Tuesday, 14 June 2016. Surprise gifts and disappearances. Before the recent Solitaire family. Who visited, I briefly played host to another Solitaire family. I mailed them off to their new home in December and was hoping that they would have arrived by now but the owner still hasn't received them and fears they've been lost in the mail. I've been holding out, hoping they were just taking a long time to arrive. I'm still hoping that the first Solitaire family turns up. 14 June 2016 at 20:10. How lovely fi...

Hawthorn Bay: Oy with the poodles already! (part 1)
http://hawthornbay.blogspot.com/2016/06/oy-with-poodles-already-part-1.html
Friday, 10 June 2016. Oy with the poodles already! It was a good mail yesterday. Some of my poodle family arrived and they're incredibly sweet. Papa and baby poodle are still on the way but they should be with me soon, so i'll take more photos of the whole family together when they're reunited. I've been considering naming them after characters from Gilmore Girls because I love Gilmore Girls (so excited that the show is coming back for new 4 episodes! Because of ' Oy with the poodles already! Hopefully d...

Hawthorn Bay: June 2015
http://hawthornbay.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 30 June 2015. Back to land again, and that's all the first figure. From my first figure, to my first building, and the original inspiration for Hawthorn Bay. So, in October I bought a Souvenir Shop (the same cottage shop style as Madeline's Boutique, but in white) to use for my crocheted dress shop and at some point I noticed that the cottage shops, with their boarded outsides, bay windows and fancy little porch/awnings, when stacked on top of each other, reminded me of the painted ladies. Of Sa...

Hawthorn Bay: August 2015
http://hawthornbay.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 19 August 2015. Just a quick update. Very little has been going on with Hawthorn Bay in the past month and a half. There've been no new arrivals and I haven't made anything for them recently as I've been working on some other things. My collection has expanded quite quickly - up until April 2014 I only had 1 Sylvanian figure (Sophie Snow-Warren who I mentioned in my first post. My first building (Madeline's Boutique, as mentioned in my second post. Was purchased secondhand in October last year.

Hawthorn Bay: December 2015

Tuesday, 8 December 2015. A Fisher in Winter. I thought I'd take some quick photographs of Isabel Fisher before she moves on to a new home. Isabel came to me with another purchase and I've decided to give her to a friend as a little Christmas present, along with a pink dress I've specially crocheted for her. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Im an adult Sylvanian Families collector. I enjoy imagining the world they live in, taking photographs and crocheting clothes for them. View my complete profile.

Hawthorn Bay: July 2015
http://hawthornbay.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 1 July 2015. I've had my Woodland Wedding set for a few months now and I deliberately held off sharing photos of it because I wanted to wait. Share it on this blog once I started posting here. Another part of this sets appeal for me was because the name of the set reminds me of the magical Sunshine Through the Rain segment in Akira Kurosawa's film Dreams (1990) which is based on the tale of Kitsune no Yomeiri. Hawthorn Bay: April 2016
http://hawthornbay.blogspot.com/2016_04_01_archive.html
Monday, 18 April 2016. The 13th is Magic! There haven't been any new arrivals at Hawthorn Bay for a while now (the last family to arrive were the Whiskers cats in December last year) however a couple of families (funnily enough, both Solitaire cat families) have visited, passing through on their way to their new homes in far away places. I was especially taken with the sister Solitaire from this family, she has such a sweet expression, but they're all lovely and make a very handsome family. Im an adult S...

Hawthorn Bay: October 2015
http://hawthornbay.blogspot.com/2015_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 28 October 2015. It's been a while since there've been any new additions to Hawthorn Bay, but last week I received the 1998 Tomy Village Bakery. It's my third (& final? Sylvanian bakery and you might be wondering why on earth Hawthorn Bay needs so many. Bakeries. Well obviously it doesn't. I just love the bakery buildings and wanted all three. Only one will remain a bakery, the rest will be converted to other businesses. Tomy Bakery, #3137, 1987. Tomy version of the Village Bakery, #3504, 1998.
