Reflections: Thoughts, ideas or opinions concerning things remembered. Monday, March 20, 2006. It was just over three hours to Fairmont, and we got to the funeral home right at five o'clock. Richard and Mary arrived about 15 minutes later. They were happy to see Diane after all these years; they appreciated our taking the time to come. Diane was the only one in her family who could get there. Posted by James Shott at 2:37 PM. Sunday, March 12, 2006. Most years I get a feeling, a sense that spring has beg...

Reflections: It was a birthday trip
http://jsreflections.blogspot.com/2005/11/it-was-birthday-trip.html
Reflections: Thoughts, ideas or opinions concerning things remembered. Monday, November 07, 2005. It was a birthday trip. My wife, Diane, and I were headed south to a concert in Charlotte, NC on last weekend, and we were going to stay at my cousin’s condo. We’ve stayed with her before, and we’ve stayed at her place when she was elsewhere, so we weren’t going to a strange place. I tried every trick I could think of to turn the damned thing off. Nothing worked. The security company called and my wi...A few...

Reflections: The Easter Trip
http://jsreflections.blogspot.com/2006/04/easter-trip.html
Reflections: Thoughts, ideas or opinions concerning things remembered. Wednesday, April 19, 2006. The family took a trip to Alexandria, Virginia over the Easter weekend to visit my two daughters and their families. As usual, this trip was not without interesting events. I’ve got cheese hands. What did he say, my son asked? Did he say, ‘cheese head? Obviously thinking of Packers fans. I thought he said ‘cheese hands,’ someone said. We all thought that was pretty funny. It was a good trip, all in all.

Reflections: Thoughts, ideas or opinions concerning things remembered. Wednesday, November 23, 2005. The people that I know who go to church are almost to a person 180 degrees opposite from the picture painted of them by their critics. They are good people who have a genuine concern for others and do good works. Maybe they aren’t perfect. Maybe they slip once in a while. But who doesn’t? Posted by James Shott at 10:10 PM. Reflections: February 2005

Reflections: Thoughts, ideas or opinions concerning things remembered. Friday, February 25, 2005. Frequently these days terms are used incorrectly out of ignorance or in a deliberate attempt to mischaracterize a person, group or event. The former instance may be the result of sloppiness or laziness, the latter instance is intellectually dishonest. Words are misused so frequently that the popular understanding of them takes on a wholly incorrect meaning. A person who fights in a war. Two Deaths This Week.

Reflections: January 2005

Reflections: Thoughts, ideas or opinions concerning things remembered. Sunday, January 23, 2005. So Long, John, We'll Miss You. When Fox News Channel broke the news that Johnny Carson had died, it was like a punch to the gut. I, like millions of others, had grown up watching The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson, and actually started watching The Tonight Show when Steve Allen started it. I had a lot of great times watching Johnny over the years. The show isn’t as good as when he had it, and that’s not ...
