History of The Alley Cantina - Taos, New Mexico

The building that houses our restaurant and bar is the oldest building in Taos. It was built in the 16th century. By the Pueblo Indians and served as an outpost along the Chihuahua trail. At one time the building was partially destroyed but was rebuilt and occupied by the Spanish government from the 17th to the 19th century. Is the entire building 400 years old? Governor Bent's daughter, Teresina, is said to haunt the building. In 1997 it became The Alley Cantina.
