Andrew Santella's entirely unnecessary weblog. Friday, January 6, 2012. A Brief Update on My New Year's Resolutions for 2012. As we reach the end of the first week of 2012, it seems fitting to review the progress I have made in realizing each of my various resolutions for the New Year. It is my hope that this exercise will prove instructive, if not inspirational, for others. 1 The Ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro. Progress on my novel has been, I am pleased to report, brisk. In honor of the occasion, here's an incomplete list of books I might have read if I hadn’t been busy reading The Moviegoer. Van Halen: A Visual History. Morey Amsterdam’s Benny Cooker Crock Book For Drinkers. Chicken Soup for the Soul: NASCAR. Thirty Years of the Rockford Files. Women Who Love Cats Too Much.

The following film projects, having halted production, will not be coming to a theater near you any time soon. The King’s Leech. Dude, She Digs My Beard. Seth Rogen, playing a fleshy and unkempt underachiever grown weary of fending off the advances of intelligent and stunningly attractive women of his own age, embarks on a troubled relationship with an intriguing older woman who may be displaying sig...

The Collapse: Walt Whitman Prepares to Drive His Family South for Spring Break

http://andrewsantella.blogspot.com/2011/03/walt-whitman-prepares-to-drive-his.html

Andrew Santella's entirely unnecessary weblog. Friday, March 25, 2011. Walt Whitman Prepares to Drive His Family South for Spring Break. Out of the driveway endlessly driving,. Out of the garage, the annual trek! To the beach we drive! To palm tree,. To humidity and sand. And that musty, slightly cockroachy smell. Of the slightly cockroachy smell, I sing! Of the smell of motel rooms not properly ventilated,. Of rooms where someone has recently smoked! Or recently done god knows what. It is in our clothes.

8220;There is nothing like a tomato sandwich now and then.” — Harriet the Spy. The 30 songs project. June 13, 2015. Yesterday, AJ put on a red cap and gown and graduated from middle school. Yesterday I conquered my nerves and took my very first guitar lesson. Yesterday it was hot enough to fry an egg on the street I have seen photographic evidence. The graduates were soaked through by the time they got into the church. My guitar was out of tune by the time I sat down to play. Tut, tut, looks like rain.

8220;There is nothing like a tomato sandwich now and then.” — Harriet the Spy. The 30 songs project. Vienna waits for you. May 27, 2015. It never occurred to me that these are all the same problem. I’m a person who needs to take things apart and learn how they tick. There can be no shortcuts. In my dissertation work, I got sucked into the endless vortex of archival research because I didn’t trust the shortcut of secondary literature. In all of these areas, what I like is to find my own tools. A guitarist...

After the next song, I was standing with my fiddle under my arm running the baroque concerto I was going to play for the offertory quietly. I felt a tug on my elbow. “Can I stand over here next to you? 8221; she asked. 8221; She nodded. What happened when he went his way and I went mine? I talked to the parent about our mutual friend and he told me they’d gone to college together. “And how do you know him? New York can feel like the world’s tiniest place. It is perhaps worth noting that I did not have the eggplant. Larr; Vienna waits for you.

As I wrote in my last post, I’ve been interested in doing another music meme here, but existing suggestions don’t seem to be inspiring me. Instead, I think I’m going to build my own. It’s likely to be quirky and personal and maybe not suitable for others, but if you’d like to play along with one or more of the subjects I propose, I’d love to hear your songs.
