Anthony Barrows

Thursday, November 5, 2009. More from the archives. Here are two oldies with a nice creepy vibe, one from UMass and one from SFAI:. These stairs are a digital collage (note the ephemeral text in the sky) turned into a photoetching (on zinc) printed on rag. The photo of the stairs was borrowed from my friend Caitlin. This is another baseball and war themed piece from grad school (2004), oil-based monoprint on rag. Saturday, October 31, 2009. This little guy is about 2" x 3", linocut on rice paper. These f...

Anthony Barrows: From the archives

http://anthonybarrows.blogspot.com/2009/09/from-archives.html

Friday, September 25, 2009. While getting ready for JP Open Studios, I pulled out the back catalogue of prints to see if there was anything that might be appealing to the folks. I snatched out a few items and scanned them for posterity in case they sell. Here are some oldies:. I believe the pitcher on the left here is Beckett. I thonk the runner on top is Ichiro and the batter on the left is Bill Mueller. This was done back in the UMass days, a monoprint of a hardground line etching.

Anthony Barrows: Happy Halloween

http://anthonybarrows.blogspot.com/2009/10/happy-halloween.html

Saturday, October 31, 2009. Here are some skulls done over the past couple months in the spirit of the halloween season. I've been interested in bringing a little Boston flavor to calaveras, hence the scally caps and street-art-styling. This little guy is about 2" x 3", linocut on rice paper. This devil squid is also a linocut, but is printed on 8" x 10" cardstock. This scally cap wearing skull is a my self-portrait calavera. It's painted plywood silkscreened with the skull, about 5" across.

Anthony Barrows: One of my Favorite Monoprints

http://anthonybarrows.blogspot.com/2008/07/one-of-my-favorite-monoprints.html

Wednesday, July 30, 2008. One of my Favorite Monoprints. This is a monoprint from 2005 with which I was particularly pleased. This is an oil-based monoprint created with mylar silhouettes and a plexi plate. This series was part of my exploration of two famed American exports: war and baseball. I see them as representing and embodying the full complexity of our country; from beauty, grace and honor, straight through to corruption, greed and violence. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
