Aphasia is an acquired communication disorder. A person with aphasia may find it difficult to speak, understand spoken words, to read and to write. Aphasia can be caused suddenly by stroke or trauma to the brain or can come about more gradually as a result of a neurodegenerative disease, or sometimes an unknown cause. Our professional staff provide appropriate levels of support no matter what the language difficulty. Aphasia is new to my family. What should we do now that we are living with aphasia?

Our Programs and Services. These programs are offered for people living with aphasia and their families. Our programs include communication, physiotherapy and counselling support. We are here to help. Navigating the world with aphasia is tough, let our staff make life a bit easier. We offer support for clients not just at ACO but also in the community. We offer workshops for families, volunteers, and professionals. Workshops are continuously being offered at ACO and in the community.
