Wednesday, 20 July 2011. A bear wandered through the village at 4am yesterday morning. Like almost everyone else I was asleep, but a few lucky people got a good look at it. Wednesday, 29 June 2011. Flying into Longyearbyen on Sunday evening was rather good. The pilots decided to go low over the island and nearly everybody on the plane had a camera out. Some former Birmingham housemates still fond of putting the world to rights over tea and and tins of Carlsberg. August 5, 2010. I thought that as a first post it would be nice to highlight the sterling work of Phil, a fellow Survivor. Phil has since the age of eighteen dedicated his life to the study of small bugs that live in streams. He has in recent years taken to doing a PhD in Bug Studies and you can follow his exploits here. He is currently off in Svalbard for the summer, fighting off armored bears.
