http://wonton-woman.blogspot.com/2010/01/gerdas-hawaiian-shortbread.html
Recipes and resources for cooking in southern Taiwan. Monday, January 25, 2010. My mom pulled some shortbread dough out of the freezer today (she has a new fridge coming - gotta use things up! And I was delighted to find coconut in the first bite. This came to her from her good friend Gerda, who always brought the tastiest treats to coffee hour when I was a little girl. Wonton Woman: Creamy No-Bake Rice Pudding
http://wonton-woman.blogspot.com/2013/01/creamy-no-bake-rice-pudding.html
Recipes and resources for cooking in southern Taiwan. Wednesday, January 02, 2013. Creamy No-Bake Rice Pudding. I mentioned this rice pudding some time ago. As one of the recipes I was teaching my students to make. I demo'd it twice, once with my English Club ladies and again with a group of upper elementary students. The women loved it; the kids thought rice-as-dessert was weird, but those who tried it were (mostly) won over. It's a simple recipe, whether you start with 10NT worth of bai fan.

The adventures of daniel, kristin, and madeleine. Monday, January 4, 2010. On Sentimentality: A Christmas Essay. Once upon a time – (last year) – I was having drinks with a friend. It was Advent, we were talking about music, and I asked him ‘Hey [friend], have you ever heard [band name]? 8217; to which he curtly replied, ‘Yes, but they’re a bit too sentimental for my taste’. My spirits were quietly deflated. I like sentimental music? I have a kitschy taste in music. Can we remain so conspicuously aloof t...

Like a Twix, only better (because where can you buy a 9"x14" Twix bar? Recipes to follow, once I get my boy in school tomorrow. (Sigh.). Or enough to keep ...

Around The World in a Wooden Spoon. Rasberry, rose and lychee macarons. October 6, 2013. Say that French meringue macarons are less reliable and more sensitive to things like humidity and overmixing. Italian meringue macarons on the other hand, are more difficult to overmix and are generally used in professional kitchens as less can go wrong.
