Yessnow is a rare delight in our area. The last time that it snowed was January 2011. This is the view from my window as I awakened. My camera isn't the greatest, and I couldn't fully capture what I saw, but you get the idea. ;-). What a beauty to behold! Seeing this immediately made me want to create art! A Night On The Town. I have the most amazing ( ( (piano instructor and friend! Her name is Linda Shevitz (photo above playing the piano). And she has been an added blessing to my life. Not only does she excel in her skills as a teacher.she reaches and encourages her students from within, passing on her own life experiences. This is not just about a piano lesson. Preserving Leaves and Flowers. I find it highly therapeutic admiring and collecting beautiful leaves during my walks and hikes. I press the leaves (flowers included) and use them for nature field journals, mixed media art, and papermaking. One of my science instructors got me addicted to plant pressing and study through an herbarium. Project in my science class. I thank her for that and have passed it on to other children, especially those who are homeschooling. You will be amazed! Sold by the Carolina B...

Georgia Master Naturalist Program. Class located at Phinizy Center for Water Sciences. Swamp and Nature Park. I have eagerly awaited this program, and I'm happy to say it has finally begun! We met a day before class for meet and greet! We took a quick break to search for small objects -such as leaves and twigs- located near the education classroom on campus. I decided to try my hand at gardening. My mom always seemed to have a green thumb, but for many years, I felt that the talent was not handed down to me. Anytime I decided to purchase plants, I could almost swear I heard them screaming out to others, "Please save us! Thankfully, things are coming along fine. Bird Watching at Phinizy. Notes from my nature journal. What an adventurous weekend! I went birding with the August-Aiken Audubon Society. The field trip coordinators are Lois Stacey and Anne Walters. Talk about a group that is highly knowledgeable about birds and nature in general! Though, I wasn't able to get a photo of all of the members that were on the field trip (including myself), I was able to capture a few photos of some of them.
