Earrings Everyday: Concentric
http://earrings-everyday.blogspot.com/2015/08/concentric.html
Thursday, August 6, 2015. These are some of my recent favourites. I love it when you spot connections between seemingly incongruous materials and they fall into place in a fresh design. I had made the drops with the carnelian and the grey trade beads with the orange-y bands a few days before; I was just looking for something to hang them from. Then I remembered some large orange copper hoops I got from Natalie at Grubbi. The resin coins and the salvaged earring findings were the final additions. It works...

Earrings Everyday: Autumn Turning
http://earrings-everyday.blogspot.com/2014/10/autumn-turning.html
Friday, October 31, 2014. I recently set myself a challenge of creating earrings from the hoard of recycled glass discs I've been collecting from Happy Mango Beads. I have them in a virtual rainbow of colors! I initially wanted to make bracelets from them (which I still intend to do), but then I got a bug to incorporate them into earrings. The lime green discs above are recycled glass from Afrobeadia, and the perfect little amber lampwork roundels are from Happy Mango Beads. The colors in these earrings.

Thursday, 30 April 2015. Art Bead Scene April Inspiration Challenge. For the April challenge was this self-portrait by Frida Kahlo, painted after her divorce from Diego Rivera and the end of her affair with photographer Nickolas Muray. The painting depicts Kahlo wearing a white dress with a monkey on her right shoulder and a cat on her left, wearing a necklace made of thorns and a dead hummingbird. The thorns dig into Kahlo's skin, making her bleed. Self-Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird, 1940.

Earrings Everyday: The Light of the World
http://earrings-everyday.blogspot.com/2015/05/the-light-of-world.html
Wednesday, May 20, 2015. The Light of the World. Those of you who know me already know that I love using evocative (sometime provocative) quotes to complement my jewelry. I'm an avid bookworm and am infamous for peppering conversations with arcane underused words. My husband always gives me the eye-roll when I pull some old-timey phrase out of my hat. There are so many nuanced words out there - why stick to the same boring limited lexicon? It's nice,' I said. 'What are you going to buy with it? Its very ...
