Discussions about art and what makes it happen. Friday, January 8, 2010. January 8, 2010. I'm thinking there may be more than one way that characterizes one's working style. You hear of a particular method as describing one's typical way of working. But maybe there is more than one. What this implies is that I'll be soldiering on with the two monsters against the wall for the rest of my life. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Upon further Reflection on my Father. Art By Collage: September 2009

Discussions about art and what makes it happen. Sunday, September 27, 2009. September 27, 2009. I was wrong about one thing: I didn't really think of this Blog at all. In fact, I'm thinking about it now because a friend said she'd logged on and found I'd been long remiss in contributing. Can't have that! And that's where I am with a report on the holy places in England and the west coast of Ireland. What parts of them will I isolate with a descriptor? And what descriptor might that be? Discussions about art and what makes it happen. Thursday, December 10, 2009. December 10, 2009. This is what happened: The gallery owner in Charlotte was complimentary about my work and I went into orbit planning two giant 3'x5' canvases. I have the base work completed on one, and I'm starting to do that on the other. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Upon further Reflection on my Father. View my complete profile. Discussions about art and what makes it happen. Saturday, April 10, 2010. April 10, 2010. This will be the last blog in a while. I've been writing to you for a year, and this is the 81st entry. I'm not getting a response, even when I ask friends directly for one. So, when something "important" comes to mind, I'll get it down; otherwise, I'll just keep on painting because I'm burnt out talking to myself. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Discussions about art and what makes it happen. Thursday, July 30, 2009. July 30, 2009. A friend was in the studio the other day and said, "Are you always this organized? Additionally, brushwashing and straightening up can be terrifically therapeutic. When I hit a rough patch and just don't know what to do next, I can always grab the soaking brushes and spend several reflective minutes at the sink caring for them. Wednesday, July 29, 2009. January 25, 2010. It's been a long time, and I'm sorry about that; but I. Been busy, and I want to talk about it. The monsters look good to me (no matter how they might appear to anyone else at this point- that's not important). I haven't ruined them, nor am I flopping around not knowing what to try next...

Discussions about art and what makes it happen. Sunday, August 30, 2009. August 30, 2009. On the eve of our Irish trip, when access to money is at a premium, I've just ordered about $150-worth of brushes. Do I already have brushes? Now I'm waiting for them to arrive. The anticipation builds. This is exciting, and I'll tell you more tomorrow! Wednesday, August 26, 2009. August 26, 2009. Actually, so far, so good. But tomorrow waits in the wings. Discussions about art and what makes it happen. Monday, January 25, 2010. January 25, 2010. It's been a long time, and I'm sorry about that; but I. Been busy, and I want to talk about it. Long time ago, I read that a mother has to "fall in love" with her newborn. There comes a defining moment following delivery when a mother's heart fills with love and happiness at the sight of her baby, when she knows that this little scrap of humanity is truly hers and she's glad. Discussions about art and what makes it happen. Wednesday, February 24, 2010. February 24, 2010. Remarkably, time has passed since the last entry. I'm down to nine canvases to go in nine weeks. It's the kiss of death to think like this, because almost always one invites a stall or disaster when the gods (or "ill trained labrador") is tempted. It threatens to snow again today, about the sixth event of the season. Crocusses are showing in the garden, perhaps the clouds will see them and move on.
