There is a great distortion between what you see creatively and what often is reality. I learned this most profoundly jus. Links to this post. Artist's Changing Perception: The Illusive Portrait. The brain is overwhelmed with details so we tend to skip the reality of details that would truly capture what we see. Links to this post. Links to this post.

Art by Gordon: The sadness, elation and rapture of creativity
http://artbygordon.blogspot.com/2015/05/the-sadness-elation-and-rapture-of.html
Friday, May 1, 2015. The sadness, elation and rapture of creativity. The other side of a creative block is like coming up for breath after not realizing you’ve been holding your breath for weeks. It’s the sudden feeling of being able to see beyond obvious detail, beyond what is mundane and ordinary. And than just as sudden as it begins, the overwhelming state of details as every stroke competes to be next. This is why I tend to work on many paintings at once because if one blacks outs with too much d...

Wednesday, February 4, 2015. Simplicity for capturing water effects.don't overthink or overdo it. First Lesson: Droplet of water on a flower. The subtle intricacies of the appearance of water is easily overdone. When you look at a droplet you can over think and over render trying to achieve the clarity. I have learned that a simple and limited wash of color and light are more effective and often painting what you actually see is harder than what you logically think you see. Links to this post. Sunday, September 21, 2014. The first day of the creative spring. Cannas from the Cape San Blas Series. I have played with multiple ideas and images in my mind, stories and poems need to be written out in notes just to keep the initial inspiration but nothing gels. Art by Gordon: An Interest in Gardening
http://artbygordon.blogspot.com/2015/06/an-interest-in-gardening.html
Sunday, June 14, 2015. An Interest in Gardening. When I was young, I really wasn't that interested nor aware of plants. Plants and trees were a backdrop that created a landscape that I painted. I have always loved nature but I had a preference for zoology over botany. Another plant is Passionvine-I have collected more than seven species over the year, right now I have four-the violet Lady Margaret, the purple incense, cerulean blue and the vitifolia giant red flower. The se flowers are both unique in...

Art by Gordon: The Exhibition: North Haven Gardens Gallery
http://artbygordon.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-exhibition-north-haven-gardens.html
Monday, July 27, 2015. The Exhibition: North Haven Gardens Gallery. It is an amazing feeling to walk through a gallery where you are showing your art. It is almost like being a silent ghost, no one recognizes you nor realizes you're the artist but they talk about the art as if in your absence. It is a very enlightening experience because you create what you hope will affect a viewer in some way but you can never estimate how your work will be received. Swallows and Passionvines is one painting that peopl...
