thepaperpusher – The Paper Pusher
https://thepaperpusher.wordpress.com/author/thepaperpusher
Paper conservation meets everyday life. March 3, 2017. March 4, 2017. Folding paper cranes is a meditative process and I have been enjoying making cranes for many years. Here is a set of cranes I folded over the winter break which I assembled into a hanging decoration. This is a pack of 4 inch square chiyogami print paper purchased from Muji. In the past I have also used wire formed into a circle to make hangers for crane strings. Measuring relative humidity with a whirling hygrometer. December 19, 2016.

Chemo Can’t Stop me! | Know it, Fight it, Beat it ~ Pancreatic Cancer

Know it, Fight it, Beat it Pancreatic Cancer. My journey through healing Pancreatic Cancer. Chemo Can’t Stop me! July 6, 2015. Chemo session 1 completed wasn’t as bad as I thought I spent 4 hours at the cancer clinic in Vancouver (Nanaimo can’t get me in until end of July) in an easy chair, with Meghan by my side and a special quilt made by my mom. While they put the chemo in my body I had a few small reactions, my salvia glands over acted and I sounded like I had a lisp for a very short time.Ha! Keep fi...

Here is a lithographed map with handcoloured additions showing the McLeod, Frank, Todd and Robbins Range leases after 1898 (KMA Map Collection No. M-990). The map is split into three pieces with some pieces missing, is excessively soiled and has remnants of an insect sac on the back (the black stringy substance at the left side). A love affair: my printmaking treasure | Musings From The Studio

Musings From The Studio. A look inside artist Linda Cote's creative processes. A love affair: my printmaking treasure. May 3, 2015. By Linda Cote Studio. I recently ran across an amazing printmaker’s California table for sale. (It’s called that because of the layout of the drawers — more accurately called cases or trays — as seen here. Did I mention I have a third-floor art studio? When I had made room in my studio, my lovely husband carted all the drawers from our garage up three flights of stairs to th...

Local Earth Pigments – The Paper Pusher
https://thepaperpusher.wordpress.com/2016/08/12/local-earth-pigments
Paper conservation meets everyday life. August 12, 2016. August 13, 2016. I have been working on processing and using natural earth pigments with artist Kelly Perry. It is possible to make pigments from harder rocks, but finely grinding hard rock is difficult with the home equipment we are using. Do remember to wear a dust mask or respirator when working with ground pigments such as these. I used a mortar and pestle to grind these lumps down to powder. The powdered pigment is then labelled and stored for...

Monoprinting and the need for color | Musings From The Studio
https://lindacotestudio.wordpress.com/2015/02/15/monoprinting-and-the-need-for-color
Musings From The Studio. A look inside artist Linda Cote's creative processes. Monoprinting and the need for color. February 15, 2015. By Linda Cote Studio. I don’t know if it is just being deep into our Canadian winter, or the fact that a lot of my artwork is created in black-and-white, but sometimes I crave color like one craves sugar. This day, I used both my brayer (roller) to leave geometrical patterns on the block, as well as a stiff bristle brush to make designs. After about a week, and sitting wi...
