I'll Never Forget the Day I Read a Book!: The Rope
http://residentreader.blogspot.com/2012/04/rope.html
I'll Never Forget the Day I Read a Book! Sunday, April 22, 2012. This book is a bit different. It is a flashback to the beginning of Pigeon's career in the Park Service. It gives the reader a lot of background, filling in Anna's history. It's like the birth of the Lone Ranger episode that used to air once a year, which every child waited for with anticipation. I'll Never Forget the Day I Read a Book! Sunday, May 20, 2012. Distrust That Particular Flavor. Writers tend to accumulate a lot of stuff, short pieces that they wrote for this or that publication, or for no particular reason. After a while all that stuff can be swept together an become a book. This book is William Gibson's stuff. In this book, Gibson reviews a record or two, visits Singapore ( Disneyland with the Death Penalty. Some pieces have already been bypassed by events. Gibson includes a 1999...

I'll Never Forget the Day I Read a Book! Wednesday, June 15, 2011. My Life in the West. Tyson admired Will James as a youth and followed his example in becoming a cowboy. In The Long Trail. Tyson is a bit disparaging of Jame's cowboy cred. I find that odd. They guy spent time in a Nevada jail for cattle rustling. How much more credible can you get? Did he have to be hanged? Or And Stood There Amazed. In the CD player while reading this book. It will get you in the mood. This post is in the 71st. A BLog A...

I'll Never Forget the Day I Read a Book! Thursday, May 31, 2012. After reading Distrust That Particular Flavor. I felt a need to catch up a bit on William Gibson's novels. Pattern Recognition. All of the technology in the book was current, or at least possible, in 2003. Pixar was creating digitally animated films which were quite sophisticated. It was possible, at that time, to imaging one that looked like live action. This year, of course, we saw the release of Tintin. Links to this post. Gibson is an o...

I'll Never Forget the Day I Read a Book!: August 2011
http://residentreader.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
I'll Never Forget the Day I Read a Book! Sunday, August 14, 2011. A while ago I saw a movie, The Red Violin. Which followed a violin through many owners, beginning with it's maker, who had varnished it with the blood of his just deceased wife. The violin made beautiful, tragic music and all the owners died badly. That film could have been an adaptation of Accordion Crimes. Changed by Hollywood to a more sexy musical instrument and given all new characters and dialog, but keeping the core concept. I had t...
