Tuesday, April 20, 2010. Memory Card File Recovery. Yesterday one of my students was doing an interview with someone and recording it onto my Fostex MR-8. At first everything appeared to be fine. I played back the beginning of the clip and it sounded good but when I went back to process the file it had just disappeared. The MR-8 stores files on a compact flash card (CF) so I searched around and stumbled upon the program photorec. Which is part of the testdisk. Thanks Christophe and Nithin.

Tuesday, February 17, 2009. Firefox Speedup on Linux. Here is a neat little trick that I found at TomBuntu to increase the speed of reads and writes to the cache for Firefox. There are many other tips relating to SSD drives but I found this one could be used with any system. Firefox puts its cache in your home partition. By moving this cache in RAM you can speed up Firefox and reduce disk writes. Complete the previous tweak to mount /tmp in RAM, and you can put the cache there as well. Set the value to.

Monday, October 4, 2010. I've been experimenting with Amazon S3 service. To upload new objects with reduced redundancy set use the following line of code. Result = $s3- batch()- create object($bucket, $filename, array( 'fileUpload' = $file, 'storage'= 'REDUCED REDUNDANCY' ) );. To change existing objects redundancy setting . Result = $s3- change storage redundancy( $bucket, $filename, 'REDUCED REDUNDANCY' );. Here is how to list all of the objects in a bucket. Not recommended if you have lots objects.

Sunday, September 28, 2008. DiNotte 200L/140R LED Bike Light Review. After reading many reviews on the different bike lights on the market today I finally decided to go with the DiNotte 200L-LI-4C headlight and the 140R-LI-4C tail light. I just got them this last week so these are only my initial impressions and opinions of them. I'm sure I'll write another review after I've used them a bit more. Run the head and tail light off the same battery or separate batteries. 4C battery is a bit bulky.

Looks like an interesting service though it does cause you an extra click for users to get to you link. I found it as a referral in my Google Analytics data.
