My Speck of the Maelstrom

My Speck of the Maelstrom. Monday, August 10, 2015. 1) My twins have passed the viability landmark! 24 weeks is the point where the doctors will try to save them if they're born prematurely, as they have a 30-50% chance of survival. I'm at 25 weeks, which is a solid 50%. This would be a bigger deal if I were having signs of preterm labor (I'm not. at all), but it's still a significant milestone to cross. 3) That said, I don't. Also it hurts my back. 9) Welcome to the wonderful world of Braxton Hicks....

My Speck of the Maelstrom: 5/3/15 - 5/10/15

http://atreelessgrasslandinaforest.blogspot.com/2015_05_03_archive.html

My Speck of the Maelstrom. Saturday, May 9, 2015. Other baby post about the baby posts. Okay, everything about my baby that was posted, chronologically, before this post, was written on the day it says, saved to drafts, and then posted after I'd made the official announcement. Monday, May 4, 2015. Apparently my twins are done growing new body parts, and are now focusing on making those parts bigger. So, at 11 weeks, I'm considering maternity pants. Here I present, 1 week in bathroom mirror selfies:.

My Speck of the Maelstrom: 3/29/15 - 4/5/15

http://atreelessgrasslandinaforest.blogspot.com/2015_03_29_archive.html

My Speck of the Maelstrom. Saturday, April 4, 2015. Okay, first of all, TWINS! I'm going to dress them in matching outfits, take nauseatingly adorable pictures, cuddle their little faces, and suddenly have TWO babies instead of none! Also, I'm terrified. Mostly, it's the third trimester that scares me. I know twins are common enough that women go through this all the time, but. but. one baby in there is uncomfortable enough. How. Do women do it with two? This morning I woke up in a near-panic over it.

My Speck of the Maelstrom. Monday, March 23, 2015. I have a fish! While I was going through the infertility process, I had a forbidden book. This was one of my "National Geographic is having a crazy-awesome book sale" acquisitions, and it's titled "In the Womb." The book follows the progress of a little girl, from conception to birth, giving in depth descriptions of every single stage of growth. It uses a combination of in-the-womb photos and models to make absolutely stunning images of the baby. The sam...

My Speck of the Maelstrom. Wednesday, July 1, 2015. What to Do When Rome is a Jerk. The last couple days, I've been seeing someone comment on my mom's Facebook posts, and this person's name was Iceni Boudicca. I saw that name, and I was like, "No way that's her real name." I checked with my mom, and yeah. It was an online alias. Her real name is really pretty generic. Basically, she was an awesome sauce Celtic mama-bear who took on the Romans and won. That was what I remembered. I was way off. Because, l...

What you see when you look too close. Tuesday, December 30, 2014. There is an article on CNet that has fantastic writing. The journalist found a modestly newsworthy topic, did his homework, and then dropped some amazing prose into our world. I just about died laughing as I read it. The incongruity of the writer's style with the content is priceless. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Tuesday, December 16, 2014. Life was never meant to be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "WOW! What you see when you look too close. Sunday, July 26, 2015. Tech] Eve Pendant, Phase 2. For an upcoming Disney-themed event that my wife and I will be attending, I decided that she needed something really really special to wear. One of her favorite Disney characters is Eve, from Wall-E (YouTube link). And, well, I realized that her face was an awful lot like OLED screens I'd seen. Once I found the Adafruit tutorial for an OLED necklace. I was hooked. I was totally doing it. Problem One: Screen Selection.

May 1, 2012. Ever since I showed you our barn door pantry, I have been getting lots of questions about the barn door hardware. Ok, one question really. Where can I buy that hardware? My answer, up until now, has disappointed quite a few of you - 'My brother custom made that for us, you can't buy them anywhere.' Cue the booing, and hissing, and people angrily ramming their fingers into their eyes. These are selling fast! Did you miss the link? Cate @ A Tree Lined Street. March 21, 2012.
