Autumn Wanderings

Wednesday, November 19, 2008. I wrote this poem the second day it snowed this fall. Few can see the beauty. Of a white, frosty ground. And few can sense the magic. Of snow falling down. Few can feel excitement. When icy breath swirls around. And few can appreciate winter. Few will notice twinkling eyes. If your nose turns pink. And few will choose the frozen pond. Over the indoor rink. Few will feel enchantment. When the sun turns red and sinks. And few will appreciate winter. Few can see a pixie. And we...

Autumn Wanderings: March 2008

http://www.autumnwanderings.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Thursday, March 13, 2008. When I started writing "Months I" I thought it would be cool if each month was, not an object, but a person. So here are my "Month Children.". January Child is Jason, a serious, quiet, eight-year-old boy. He has dark brown hair and clear blue eyes. He is very talented in wood carving. He can clearly imagine what it will look like when. It is finished, but that's pretty much the extent of his imagination. He would rather study facts. Food is cake. His favourite colour is green.

Autumn Wanderings: August 2008

http://www.autumnwanderings.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html

Tuesday, August 12, 2008. Song of the Dryad. This song was found in a thick, hidden forest near the mountains, engraved on a strip of bark. Dryad expert Taura Topaura translated it from the Tree-Language. She says it was written nearly a century ago. SONG OF THE DRYAD. How to read: For the first four verses, speak in a whisper, pausing briefly in between each line. For the rest, do not pause, and speak slightly louder, but still in whispers so as not to disturb the flora and fauna.). The sky is grey.

Autumn Wanderings: The Jungle of Mystery

http://www.autumnwanderings.blogspot.com/2008/06/jungle-of-mystery.html

Monday, June 16, 2008. The Jungle of Mystery. Story I'm writing for the LA final exam. (Well, kind of like it.) This is the beginning of it:. 8220;Irene, can I stay up and watch TV until you’re done reading? 8221; José asked. 8220;No. It’s already ten o’clock, almost two hours after your bedtime. Go to sleep,” Irene said without looking up from the page. 8220;But I’m not tired and your light will keep me up,” José complained. 8220;Then turn around. You need sleep.”. Look at the room! Irene groaned and cl...

Autumn Wanderings: Little Pumpkin Seed

http://www.autumnwanderings.blogspot.com/2008/09/little-pumpkin-seed.html

Thursday, September 11, 2008. Once there was fairy. A princess fairy, no less. She had big hazel eyes. And wore an orange dress. Her name was Kyri Soradin. Which means Little Punpkin Seed. She liked to sing with the castle choir. And learn and draw and read. Little Pumpkin had a problem, though. Because she was so small,. Even behind the castle wall. And then Queen Mab the fair and true. Came to comfort Pumpkin Seed. You are the best fae of them all,. To know that is all you need.". Then the tiny fairy,.

Autumn Wander

Thursday, October 30, 2008. Thursday, October 30, 2008. After six weeks on the road, we are home in New Jersey, having arrived here this past Sunday afternoon. As has been our practice, we chose to let the current moment steep considerably before writing about it, to allow for the flavor of our experiences to develop fully. Or, we are simply lazy bloggers. I recognize that in Wander Five we had already arrived in New Mexico, but this visual is worth backtracking a bit to show:. The rivers are the Red Riv...
