a wild splendor

Saturday, January 4, 2014. What of a face? I've been looking at faces. It was a Monday night about a month ago, someone was talking, telling a story, interesting no doubt, but all I could focus on were the lines that creased her forehead, the way she looked into her lap when she laughed, self-conscious, eyebrows rising toward her hair, the nervous way a small dimple kept appearing above her lip. What of a face? I can't help but think of those words from Gilead. We are angles and planes, curves and plinth...

a wild splendor: May 2013

http://awildsplendor.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

Thursday, May 30, 2013. Guess who I been thinkin' about? He talked a lot. Used ta bother me. But now I been thinkin' what he said, an' I can remember —. Tom, from T he Grapes of Wrath. I’m thinking about community, about friendship, about abandoning the periphery, leaving the sidelines every once in a while. Thinking about being a friend, having a friend, quitting loneliness and isolation, opening up to the communal, the common, the linked hands, one body, shared glory of the Kingdom. Yes, yes. I nee...

a wild splendor: February 2013

http://awildsplendor.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, February 26, 2013. A couple of dear friends have already read what I'm posting today. Maybe this counts as cheating in the blog world, I'm not sure, since this was actually written a few months ago. But I want you to know where I have been, and in the moving forward, we will see his beauty. In A Grief Observed,. So here is some of my journey, written in the midst of it all. Sometimes I think this in-between is a terrible place to be. It is not even tension, or time stretched out, an unravele...

a wild splendor: September 2013

Has it really been over two months since I posted? Summer has been long and hot and all kinds of overwhelming. It is typically my favorite season, sometimes I think I am made for summer. But this time around, I'm relieved it's almost over. I need a slower pace, space to think, time to write. I want to step outside and never come in. I am stretching ...

a wild splendor: October 2013

http://awildsplendor.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

Tuesday, October 29, 2013. Pursue some path, however narrow and crooked, in which you can walk with love and reverence.". Sometimes a sentence is laid down letter by letter. It is an arrow, pointed, sharp, stretching toward utility. Sometimes a life is laid down letter by letter. It is an arrow, pointed, sharp, stretching toward reverence. As if it is all a show. Should I say it again? To myself, to you? I will lay out this life, letter by letter. My arrow is small, I might need a microscope to see i...

May 7, 2012. Hope everyone is enjoying the Melody of Life. Mini collection as much as I have! I have noticed it flying off the shelves online so you must! There is probably a bit left out there if you look hard enough. I enjoy turning trash to treasure and this project was certainly a good one! I'm sure you see where this is going! I decided to cover it with paper! And what fun it was molding and sculpting the boat and sails into a whimsy of life on the high seas. Links to this post. February 6, 2012.

A Wild Surmise

Looking for clues about the digital future of education. And trying to keep an open mind! Saturday, 23 June 2012. As the Summer holidays approach I usually feel in the mood for a bit of a revamp of my teaching strategy. I know that once the children have gone home my brain will stay in gear for a week or two before retuning to its more normal holiday snooze mode, and this Summer I'm going to use that time to take a look at something which has been bugging me for a while now: teaching #betterEnglish.
