My Menopausal Musings: 08/01/2009 - 09/01/2009

http://mymenopausalmusings.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

The story of one woman's leap. Monday, August 24, 2009. I've been sitting here editing pages from THANKSGIVING (the novel I'm working on) and thought I'd share the first couple of pages. Just a little tease and perhaps a little inspiration for contributions to the Starving Artist Fund so I can finish it ;-). November 26, 2009. The adrenaline racing through her body was making her dizzy. Stopping to catch her breath beneath an awning at 181st Street, Rita realized she had run out of the house with her...

http://mymenopausalmusings.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

The story of one woman's leap. Friday, May 22, 2009. I can't believe it's taken so long to tell you what went on at the book launch party! The launch party for my new memoir “I Thought I Grew Up” was last Friday night at the Morningside Bookshop in New York City. It was a tremendous success. Happy faces, laughter, wine, friends and many books sold. For those of you that have joined the world of Facebook, I've posted photos of the event on my Facebook Fan Page, Author - Michelle Churchill. To buy copy of ...

My Menopausal Musings: 07/01/2009 - 08/01/2009

http://mymenopausalmusings.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

The story of one woman's leap. Thursday, July 23, 2009. I’m sitting at the Café in the Barnes and Noble. In the Citicorp Building in NYC. I came for a little inspiration. It is filled with writers and readers sipping coffee and staring out the window at the rain. I love being here, surrounded by stacks of books and people who love them. When I arrived, the café was full so I went to the second floor to the biography section to take a gander at my book. The novel – The working title is Thanksgiving. I&#82...

My Menopausal Musings: I Bury Your Backpack at My Wounded Knee

http://mymenopausalmusings.blogspot.com/2013/12/i-bury-your-backpack-at-my-wounded-knee.html

The story of one woman's leap. Wednesday, December 04, 2013. I Bury Your Backpack at My Wounded Knee. Backpacks do not have a place on the busy sidewalks of New York. They do not belong on rush hour transportation. I know, I know. You love your backpack. You love the convenience of carrying your burden on your shoulders and keeping your hands free to shop and text. Your girth has doubled. Today a young man, with the need to be ahead of me on the escalator, zipped around. Wednesday, December 04, 2013.

My Menopausal Musings: There Is No Superman

http://mymenopausalmusings.blogspot.com/2011/01/there-is-no-superman.html

The story of one woman's leap. Monday, January 10, 2011. There Is No Superman. A mentally ill young man was able to buy a terrible weapon of mass destruction and used it to destroy several lives this weekend. I struggle to make sense of the recent tragic shooting in Arizona as I hear the words of self-important politicians, political pundits and shock jocks ricocheting through the airwaves like so many bullets, each one believing they can repel those missile-like words like Superman. There is no Superman.

The story of one woman's leap. Monday, October 26, 2009. How Do You Decide Whom To Marry? OK… I admit that these kid quotes have been ‘borrowed’ ;-). A friend sent these sage words in an e-mail this evening. As I read it a flood of memories raced through my mind ranging from my own recent dating exploits to Art Linkletter’s Kids Say the Darndest Things. If you’re too young to remember Mr. Linkletter’s House Party, take a moment to watch this fabulous YouTube. These kids are hysterical…. Alan, age 10.

My Menopausal Musings: Delayed Gratification

http://mymenopausalmusings.blogspot.com/2012/07/delayed-gratification.html

The story of one woman's leap. Saturday, July 21, 2012. The cyber dating world can be a funny place. This afternoon I received a playful (and a little bit forward) e-mail from a prospective date. When I opened his profile I knew in a second that it was someone I met 3 years ago. Our first date was not good, but I decided to respond. These things can take time. To my chagrin, he had absolutely no memory of having met. How could this quirky little man have forgotten who I was? 1 Never arrive late. Click on...

http://mymenopausalmusings.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html

The story of one woman's leap. Saturday, October 28, 2006. I try to explore why I feel the way I do. I convince myself and my friends that it is his physical power and beauty and nothing more. I begin to resent that he is charming and smart and am angry that he is not more available to me. Once again we get to what has defined my relationships – what I want; doing things my way. What do I want? Saturday, October 28, 2006. Labels: information on menopause. Thursday, October 19, 2006. My Date with Benjamin.

My Menopausal Musings: 27

http://mymenopausalmusings.blogspot.com/2012/12/27.html

The story of one woman's leap. Sunday, December 16, 2012. This week a troubled young man first shot and killed his mother then killed twenty children and six more women at a nearby elementary school. The facts are still unfolding. The killer used a semi-automatic weapon to inflict multiple wounds on all of his victims at the school. Banning semi-automatic weapons will not. End the tradition of the first Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. Banning semi-automatic weapons will not. I believe with all my heart t...

http://mymenopausalmusings.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html

The story of one woman's leap. Tuesday, November 14, 2006. I cried for the next two days. I reached out to girlfriends and I think they felt almost as helpless as I did. Was it possible that it had taken me this long to actually fall in love? I have never told my friends I loved him. I never told him I loved him. I never even told myself I was in love with him. Was I really in love? Tuesday, November 14, 2006. Thursday, November 02, 2006. Thursday, November 02, 2006. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Tread the...

A Year in the Life of our Flower Beds

A Year in the Life of our Flower Beds. Tuesday, June 28, 2011. There are sixty-three blooms on our big lilies right now, and more still to open. This has been the best year ever for them! And, the aroma is so strong, we can smell them in the house, it's rather lovely. More of the impatiens from Beth, and this picture stinks because it doesn't show that some are purple and some are pink. Hmpf. Surprise rudbeckia, some years it grows, some years it doesn't. A Year In The Heritage Gardens

Friday, April 25, 2014. Two Knit Edging from 1885. While cleaning out some book shelves at the BCCD Roger Gustafson Nature Center, Boone County Conservation District staff came across a cookbook from the late 1800’s. The name of the book was The True Blue Cookbook by the Ladies of the Central Presbyterian Church, Terre Haute, Indiana. Inside the front cover was an inscription written in ink; Mrs. D.C. Cuming, Christmas 85. Since the book was published in 1885 it is likely that it was given as a gift.
