I mentioned that during that hike, we had briefly veered off the trail. I promised to share that full story on another day. Running on carbs: May 2015

http://celineparent.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

A blog about running, diabetes and life. Friday, May 29, 2015. Off to the Endo I go. I've uploaded the last month's worth of CGM data from Rose. I've printed a summary of that data. Complete with pretty colours, pie charts and graphs. I've breathed a sigh of relief after seeing how lovely my average blood glucose stats were. I then proudly saddle up beside Doug to show him so he could express his delight (or at least make supportive sounds as I clicked through the pages of data). It's that time again.

Running on carbs: Not Much Help

http://celineparent.blogspot.com/2015/05/not-much-help.html

A blog about running, diabetes and life. Wednesday, May 6, 2015. I went to the Diabetes Centre on Monday, armed with 7 days worth of food logs printed from My Fitness Pal and a few weeks' worth of pre and post workout blood pressure readings. I had my list of questions. My doctor recommended that I take a supplement" I said. "I will if I need to but, if I'm getting 100% of my daily calcium from my diet, is that enough? Opinion, should I take a calcium supplement on top of the calcium I get in my diet?

Running on carbs: The Mind is a Funny Thing

http://celineparent.blogspot.com/2015/05/the-mind-is-funny-thing.html

A blog about running, diabetes and life. Thursday, May 7, 2015. The Mind is a Funny Thing. Every once in a while I am at a loss of what to blog about. It doesn't happen very often since my life seems to be chock full of diabetes (mis)adventures as well as plenty of running, cycling, swimming or golfing stories to share. Some days though, I don't feel inspired and I stare at my white screen for a few minutes. Then I will look up at Doug sitting on the other couch and say "what should I write about? She hi...

Running on carbs: En Route To Thunder Bay

http://celineparent.blogspot.com/2015/05/en-route-to-thunder-bay.html

A blog about running, diabetes and life. Friday, May 1, 2015. En Route To Thunder Bay. All those April showers, both the rain and the snow variety, are now supposed to translate into Mayflowers. Or is that May flowers? It's all very unclear. Before we say goodbye to April, it's time to see how the month went in terms of physical activity and how much closer I am to my January goal of running, walking, swimming and cycling my way to Regina, Saskatchewan. I don't count every step I take every day but I do ...

Running on carbs: February 2015

http://celineparent.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

A blog about running, diabetes and life. Friday, February 13, 2015. This has not been a stellar week of blogging by any means and for those of you who check in every day, I do apologize. I try very hard to write something from Monday to Friday but there are weeks when life simply has other plans. That being said, it's going to be pretty quiet at Running on Carbs for the next two weeks. I have managed to squeeze clothes for every possible temperature into my suitcase. Talk to y'all on the other side.

Running on carbs: January 2015

http://celineparent.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

A blog about running, diabetes and life. Friday, January 30, 2015. Ten: the number of work days left after today before we pack the car and head south with our golf clubs. I have a brand new set that I haven't even swung yet and am itching to get out there and try them. Oh, and some warm sunshine would be nice. Seven: the number of workouts I try to squeeze into a week. Tuesdays and Thursdays are double workout days because I run before work and do CoreFit or Tabata at night. That means that I ca...Five:...

Running on carbs: May 2014

http://celineparent.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

A blog about running, diabetes and life. Friday, May 30, 2014. So, um, it's the end of May and I should probably. Talk about how things went this month in the exercise department. It all comes down to perspective really. Ask me how my running went? Go on Ask me! Well, I ran 12 times. I put in a total of 12 hours and 45 minutes and I ran a total distance of 116km. Not to shabby if you ask me. I have early morning meetings (double wah! I have to run 22k the next day so I should sleep in (suck it up). On th...

Running on carbs: When in Doubt, Trust the Feeling

http://celineparent.blogspot.com/2015/05/when-in-doubt-trust-feeling.html

A blog about running, diabetes and life. Tuesday, May 5, 2015. When in Doubt, Trust the Feeling. Yesterday I wrote about having faith in diabetes systems, even when they do not always work. Well, on Saturday, I ended up having to have faith in my ability to feel. What my blood sugar is doing rather than relying on technology to keep me safe. So on Saturday morning, when I headed out for a run with my 3-day old sensor, I had complete faith in the numbers. I refused to eat another package of fruit chews&#4...

Running on carbs: April 2015

http://celineparent.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

A blog about running, diabetes and life. Thursday, April 30, 2015. A Case of the Food Diary Guilts. Yesterday I wrote about going to the diabetes centre for my dietician/nurse check-in. I talked about printing out two weeks of food data from My Fitness Pal. It's a great way to share my food diary and makes my life much easier. It also makes me second guess everything I've eaten in the last few days. So I've had all sorts of conversations in my head about what I should and should not eat this week. I ofte...

Running on carbs: A Bit of Faith

http://celineparent.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-bit-of-faith.html

A blog about running, diabetes and life. Monday, May 4, 2015. A Bit of Faith. Diabetes is just enough of an a$ hole sometimes that it makes it impossible to have faith in the system. Even when those devilish diabetes gods behave themselves and do the same thing 15 times in a row I I have trouble believing they will do the same thing on the 16th time. Why? Which is why it made it very difficult for me to have faith last Friday when we headed out to the golf course. Last summer I learned to lower my basal ...

A Year with Jesus

Friday, March 16, 2018. One of the Hardest 'Miracles'. What's the hardest miracle to perform? I know many of you would love to see some great miracle of your selection to help you believe. Yet all around you every day, some of the most amazingly wondrous transformations happen by divine power at work in My followers. As My disciples show in the verses below, one of the hardest of the wondrous transformations is for the power of grace to lead a wounded heart to forgive. Watch what I do as I journey toward...

A Year With John Kremer. My Journey to market a Children's Fantasy Middle School book. Resources for Middle School Authors. Day 88: The book needs a line-by-line edit. February 24, 2016. It's all about marketing isn't it? Not much progress book wise. I need to work on the cover. Lighten it up so that the big dog can be seen. A Year With Judy Toups. Thursday, December 29, 2016. ON THE WANT LIST: JUST A SONG (AND A DANCE) AT TWILIGHT. American Woodcock - photo courtesy Robert Smith. This bird was unusually co-operative on a soccer field in Biloxi at 9pm! This article was published in December 2005. One of my unfulfilled wishes as a birder is to watch an American Woodcock sky-dancing in the winter twilight of southern Mississippi. The woodcock hardly qualifies as a handsome specimen; it is short, squat, and dumpy. But it is...

a year with mona | living, writing, and eating in Paris

A year with mona. Living, writing, and eating in Paris. December 12, 2016. I’ve seen plenty of car accidents. I’ve witnessed a mugging. But today I saw something I’d only ever seen on TV: thieves jumping into a waiting getaway car and speeding away. I looked for the security guard while I was in the store, but I didn’t see him. I can’t even be sure the thieves had hit the grocery store, since the building has a number of other retail businesses. I mentioned to the checker what I’d seen, and...It’s strang...

A Year With My Ears!

A Year With My Ears! Friday, 31 December 2010. What Happened To The Ears! I’ve been meaning to write this little postscript for quite some time – since July in fact. As it’s now the end of December 2010, I thought I would finally cross “Write Ears Closing Post” off my jobs list by typing just a little something by way of reviewing the project. We’ll all just have to wait and see. So, to the results of the project – first, and most obvious, I now have a listening diary for a whole year! Things were furthe...
