VI Circle 2008: January 2008
http://vicircle2008.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
The first winter kayak journey around Vancouver Island. Thursday, January 31, 2008. Still in Sayward, waiting for my ride. I've gone through all my gear, dried the wet stuff, repacked what needed to be put away. A lot of busy work mostly, filling time. And so will this island. The idea of kayaking around Vancouver Island in the harsh weather of the cold season is still out there and someday, someone will be the first to do it. It's just that, this year, it won't be me. Tuesday, January 29, 2008. So I lef...

The first winter kayak journey around Vancouver Island. Saturday, February 2, 2008. Back home again. In January of 2008, Ken Campbell will begin his attempt at a solo circumnavigation of Vancouver Island. http://vicircle2008.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
The first winter kayak journey around Vancouver Island. Monday, December 31, 2007. The last day of the year. Every year seems to go quicker than the ones that came before. I left work early today, came home and crashed on the couch. Watched a couple episodes of. Monday, December 24, 2007. Issued: 4 PM PST Mo...

VI Circle 2008: November 2007
http://vicircle2008.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
The first winter kayak journey around Vancouver Island. Tuesday, November 27, 2007. I did a trip last month around the San Juan Islands. I took 4 days and circled the islands, camping at a few spots along the way, mostly as an exercise to see what I'd be taking with me to Vancouver Island. To determine what gear would make the cut and what would not. The kayak I'll be using is the venerable Dagger. Paddles come from Werner. Best blades anywhere. I'll be using a bent shaft. The tent is a Mountain Hardware.

VI Circle 2008: Them old webbed toes
http://vicircle2008.blogspot.com/2008/01/them-old-webbed-toes.html
The first winter kayak journey around Vancouver Island. Saturday, January 19, 2008. Them old webbed toes. I'm a land mammal once again, at least for now. Still in Nanaimo. Got almost all of my chores and resupply items accomplished, and I'm planning on leaving early Monday morning. Deep down, I think I'm really a marine mammal. Even on land, my webbed feet give me away. Over the course of the journey, Ken will be following in the wake of those who have come before him: the native inhabitants, the explore...
