Dear Daphne: June 2009
http://daphnecollins.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 7, 2009. As you grow up in whatever homes our family inhabits, you will no doubt encounter the stacks upon stacks of books that your mother and I have collected over the years. The collection has grown year by year since before you were born, and will doubtless continue long after you have children of your own to read with. Frequently our book purchases outstrip our purchasing of bookshelves and the collection runs two rows deep. Dont stop now . . . keep reading. Links to this post.

Dear Daphne: We Cry.

Thursday, March 15, 2012. A week or so before Dad and I left for our trip to Steamboat Springs, you climbed up next to me on the couch and asked a question I didn’t know how to answer. What do we do when we die? I was flummoxed. Do you even know what “die” means? More importantly, how do I answer a question I still struggle with myself? You’re two. Ask if you can have a popsicle. So, I said what I imagine godless heathens everywhere say. 8220;What do you think happens? 8220;We cry.”. Anxiety. Borrowe...

Dear Daphne: Nine Years, Seven Months and Twenty Days
http://daphnecollins.blogspot.com/2011/05/nine-years-seven-months-and-twenty-days.html
Tuesday, May 3, 2011. Nine Years, Seven Months and Twenty Days. A history teacher once told me to ask my parents what they were doing when they heard that JFK had been shot. Both of them remembered every detail. So will I, if one day you ask me what I was doing the morning of September 11, 2001. I was sitting in my cube when my friend Lisa stuck her head over the wall. “Howard Stern just said that someone crashed a plane into the World Trade Center.”. And then, the buildings fell. No, God does not. That ...

Dear Daphne: November 2009
http://daphnecollins.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 4, 2009. I rolled out of bed on a chilly October morning in 1995 and planted my cold feet on the industrial dorm room carpet of my little corner of the Mudge B Basement, lamenting having let my mother talk me into taking The History of Psychoactive Drug Use in. A tip for the future, Daffodil: Take interesting classes. Just not the ones that start at 8:30 am). Dont stop now . . . keep reading. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Dear Daphne: Play anything, just play it loud!
http://daphnecollins.blogspot.com/2009/07/play-anything-just-play-it-loud.html
Thursday, July 30, 2009. Play anything, just play it loud! July 30, 2009 at 11:50 AM. Hmmm Im certain that several weeks ago, I told both your Uncle Brad AND your father that drums were out of the question. Perhaps theres another lesson to be learned here: Dad will say yes to things when Mom says, unequivocally, NO! July 30, 2009 at 12:01 PM. I also recommend the piano. Thats also very fun and you can play a lot of the songs you hear on the radio. :). August 11, 2009 at 11:32 PM. First Day of Purple Room.
