The Bacchae in Bucharest. The Bakken Family reports on life in Romania. Thursday, June 12, 2008. We have departed. Our Bucharestian adventure has come to a close with big doses of the good and the, well, evil. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, that's nearly 300 U.S. dollars for a shower curtain made in Eastern Europe! Perhaps we'll toss off a missive or two from Greece. Stay tuned (and thanks for tuning in these past months). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Laurie's Zoo: November 2011
http://lululives.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Check out all the shenanigans going on at Mark and Laurie's! Tuesday, November 8, 2011. Boo-ter later than never! Mark and I carved two pumpkins this year and entered them in a contest at his work. Mine is supposed to be a dog (of course) with the words "Happy Howl-o-ween" on the back and Mark's has a bunch of different leaves around the entire thing. Sadly, we did not win! As I type this it is actually November 11, Veteran's Day. Today is a parent-teacher conference day, so no school for me! My Blog Lis...

Check out all the shenanigans going on at Mark and Laurie's! Saturday, April 2, 2011. Spring is (Not) Here! Well, if you lived in Wisconsin during the month of March, you certainly experienced the truth of the old saying "March comes in like a and out like a ." In this case, March came in like a lamb, with sunny, calm days that were warm enough to melt the majority of the snow, but definitely a very large lion came out at the end of the month! Happy Birthday, Leila! After each girl served the ball, they w...

Check out all the shenanigans going on at Mark and Laurie's! Tuesday, August 10, 2010. Last week Mark and I had our niece, Emma, over for a two day/two night fun-filled extravaganza! Emma is 9 years old and will be starting the fourth grade this year, so she is at a really fun (and pretty low-maintenance:) age. Designing and sewing her own doll clothes. Making her own toys (in this case a camera and this camera certainly morphed into something more detailed). Cooking (she made breakfast from scratch.

Check out all the shenanigans going on at Mark and Laurie's! Friday, July 29, 2011. A Howlin' Good Time. Mark and I recently returned from a vacation up north. We traveled with Mom and Dad for a day to the Upper Penninsula and enjoyed being a little silly (wolf picture), viewing some beautiful nature (Bond Falls and the Porcupine Mountains), and getting away from the heat (Rhinelander was even hot during the hot spell! Thank you, Mom and Dad, for hosting our stay! Dad admiring the soft, warm sand. Lake o...

Check out all the shenanigans going on at Mark and Laurie's! Monday, October 11, 2010. On a warm and sunny autumn day in September, my cousin Josh married his love, Hilary. The two had an absolutely beautiful ceremony and reception outside of Wausau, in the "foothills" of Rib Mountain. In this picture, Josh awaits his bride. Hilary and Josh saying their vows. Lisa, John, Mom and Dad. A proud Uncle Dave congratulates his son. It was also really, really great to see my cousin, Mitch and his wife, Mary....

Check out all the shenanigans going on at Mark and Laurie's! Friday, July 27, 2012. Going to California- San Francisco. Mark and I decided we needed to take a vacation this summer and when an opportunity arose to travel to San Francisco and Wine Country at a reasonable expense, we jumped at the chance to sneak away for 5 days! Chinatown- when we stumbled upon this fat cat SLEEPING quite peacefully on the sidewalk. It was amazing! Leave it to me to take my first picture on a vacation of a cat! Which we di...

These men were demonstrating throwing pots. This man was doing an incredible job creating a portrait of a girl and her baby brother who was actually laying in a stroller. John will be starting a new job as a professor at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois in August. Congratulations, Jojo! Jim, Mom, and John.

Check out all the shenanigans going on at Mark and Laurie's! Thursday, August 25, 2011. Sigh The end of summer is. These pictures were taken a couple of weeks ago in Rhinelander. We went up so Mark and a friend could go bear baiting, as they both have bear tags for a hunt in September. I opted to bow out of the bear baiting itself, instead choosing to spend time with Mom and Dad in Rhinelander. Here, Dad work on a new trail segment in the woods. Branch. Mom and Dad have a zillion humming-. Jim and John h...
