In 2004 we bought the farm from an old Kek’chi man, who lived here for many years and raised almost as many children. In 2001, disaster struck the area. Both rooms have double beds, with an extra single in the small and a bunkbed in the large room. The dormitory has bunk beds. The bunkbeds and most of the furniture are made out of local hardwood. Food and hang out. Food and hang out. Eat, drink and relax on our spacious palapa. It has ceiling fans, a fire place, hammocks, games and dinner tables. The thatched roof is made from our own cohune leafs, the roof construction is made from our own local hardwood. You are invited to relax in a hammock, read a book from our library, play a game or simply enjoy the view on the orchard and horse pasture. You will see numerous birds and butterflies visiting the fruits and flowers.

Food and hang out. San Miguel is a Kek’chi village in the foothills of the Maya mountains on the river Rio Grande. Founded in the 1950’s, some of the first settlers are still alive today. About 70 families have made their home in San Miguel since. Most people are Kek’chi Mayans, although through intermarriage some Mopan Mayans live here as well. Also, there are two Dutch Belizeans, and that would be us.
