taking the backroad: a family's adventure

Taking the backroad: a family's adventure. Thursday, November 10, 2016. November 10, 2016: Give Thanks. I will start with gratitude. For the ability to express myself freely. For the freedom of expression we have always allowed our kids. For the chance to understand the other side through best friends who are there and who are willing to share without judging or trying to change us. For the opportunity to question the status quo and the decision we made long ago to allow our kids the same opportunity.

Taking the backroad: a family's adventure. Saturday, August 31, 2013. Aug 31, 2013: the little things. Not only am I finished grocery shopping for three weeks, I scored a gallon of the most delicious raw honey at the farmer's market today! Not only did I score a whole gallon of honey, I am now proud the owner of a gallon ball jar.a luxury I have wanted for a few years. Not only do I now have a lovely gallon ball jar, it is a delightful 75 degrees tonight after a sweltering week. It's the little things.

Taking the backroad: a family's adventure. Saturday, May 31, 2014. May 31, 2014: in the garden. This week, the peonies and wisteria have started their bloom. This week's garden post comes from our home in Kentucky.the one that is still for sale though we are settled happily in Indiana. It was so nice to be back for a visit. Our garden there is...

From Valentine's Day 2009. Monday, February 3, 2014. Feb 3, 2014: a little something. I am hard into an obsession with knitting. For so many years, a ball of yarn intimidated me. It was like a piece of blank paper.so much potential in the nothingness. This is how they came. So, I came up with a little solution. I few nights of ga...

Taking the backroad: a family's adventure. Wednesday, March 18, 2015. March 18, 2015: sixteen. Our baby girl turned sixteen today. Sixteen. Wow! That number is BIG! So happy to be spending this day and this life with her. Happy Birthday, dear daughter. Miss Patty was her thirteenth birthday gift. Breakfast brunch with napkins from her first birthday party. Sometimes it does pay to be a pack rat. Her one request: a chocolate covered cherry cake. Happy Sweet 16, Darlin' Girl. Love you. Tiny arms around you...

The Animal Hugger: January 2011

http://theanimalhugger.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 26, 2011. American Black Bears are omnivores. They eat plants and animals. They eat a lot of nuts and berries and often eat meat. They have a great sense of smell, so they are good at finding foods that they like. American Black Bears are very common in the Great Smoky Mountains. They love the Ash, Oak, and Elm trees there. It is a great place to hibernate. They mostly live in the northern region of North America. Posted by Backroad Mama. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

1000 Words: April 2010

http://moonovertreesphotos.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Friday, April 30, 2010. End of the Month. Funny how you never think about certain things until you see the calendar. I completely forgot that today was the last day of April until I started writing this post. It's been a busy, but overall, good month, and I am going to bed feeling a little better about work than how I woke up. That is due, in part, to ending the day at Caswell, with my kids and my church group, and the joy associated therefrom. 8212; it's just WRONG.). Tonight post-unload, and post crown...

Saturday, July 31, 2010. And the pie pans went home, scrapped clean. Til next July, huh? Friday, July 30, 2010. A lot in my head. None of it is getting out of my fingers on to the screen. Here are a couple pics for the day: A funny pic of Drew from the new porch and a pretty good moon shot from tonight. Kids and I went to Johnson City to watch Dinner for Schmucks - a waste of money, but that's another thing all together. Thursday, July 29, 2010. No pic - exhausted. Too many work issues to articulate, and...

1000 Words: November 2010

http://moonovertreesphotos.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Tuesday, November 30, 2010. I love a late night grocery run when I am on the road. Today's hours on the road - to Charlotte, then to Hickory and now in Huntersville, were productive, but the late night snack sometimes must be sated. So after I walked back into my room (and it was hot as hell - I hate uni-temperature hotel rooms), I decided I needed a few items from Lowes Foods. So I grabbed a few staples:. 1 my beloved Diet Pepsi, which remains the one liquid exception to my water rule. So $20 later (bou...

Monday, May 31, 2010. Plus the flag just seemed appropriate on Memorial Day, in so many ways. The last three were photos I took today, all around my parents' yard. Each offered something different as a perspective on this day. The dill made me think of salmon cakes at Elmo's. With extra dill sauce. So I guess as much as it is Memorial Day, it is also memories day. Those are never the easiest days. Sunday, May 30, 2010. Mint Juleps on the Porch. And he is a professor at ASU. Back Road Family | Our family adventures

November 10, 2017. My niece is spending a semester abroad in Nepal. In honor of her adventure, it’s time I finally publish. Adventure in Nepal… from ahem two years ago. So yeah, that pregnancy and baby thing really set me back on our travel posts. Better late than never! Our dream for Nepal consisted of a strenuous multi-week adventure to the remote regions of the Himalayas but we only had a few days so we decided on a multi-DAY trek instead. If Nepal was as amazing as we hoped, we would return. Given th...
