Sergey's Modeling Blog: January 2015
http://lezdep.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 19, 2015. Little progress for STR5. Decided to use super glue to connect resin air box top with plastic side pod covers. Managed to smear glue all over plastic parts. Now I have to clean it up somehow. I might yet try to reinforce underneath the seam with thin plastic. Not sure. Sunday, January 4, 2015. Here is where this build at now. Sergey's Modeling Blog: July 2015
http://lezdep.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 26, 2015. 917LH chassis almost done. This build will be on hold for next 3 or 4 weeks, while I'm on vacation and also deciding what to do with the body. After TS13 was applied, TS30 layers look more like grey, then silver now. I might decide to put TS17 over and see if it looks better after clear. Labels: Fisher 917LH 1971. Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Sergey's Modeling Blog: Body painted silver
http://lezdep.blogspot.com/2015/07/body-painted-silver.html
Saturday, July 18, 2015. Finally all prep work was completed on the body and I could spray silver over it. TS30 went on well. I think it is a good match. However resulting finish is not gloss, so I will have to put some clear coats on top of it before I could apply decals. I've also done pretty much all detail painting on other parts. While body will need a lot more work, I should be able to start assembly tasks on the chassis. Might even have an update by the end of this weekend. Aoshima F1-GTR long tail.

Sergey's Modeling Blog: Masked and painted Rothmans blue
http://lezdep.blogspot.com/2015/07/masked-and-painted-blue.html
Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Masked and painted Rothmans blue. For masking I have employed techniques described in the f1m.com forums recently. I've made photo copies of decals and used Tamiya masking tape to make templates. Put tape over photo copy and cut it all to shape. Then removed paper and used templates for masking. All that left was to fill rest of surface to be masked out with pieces of masking tape left over from other masking jobs. Here are photos of the process in chronological order.

Sergey's Modeling Blog: June 2015
http://lezdep.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, June 24, 2015. Test fit assembly completed. Continued on CLK-GTR build. Glued together body, floor and exhaust parts before putty work on seams can start. Test fit mock up assembly is completed to the extent I feel is needed for Tamiya kit. From past experience, I don't expect any future issues with suspension alignment and fit of other parts. At present body is just seating on the wheels. Next surface preparation work will commence. Monday, June 22, 2015. Friday, June 19, 2015. Test fit assem...

Sergey's Modeling Blog: December 2014
http://lezdep.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 21, 2014. Glued together bunch of part before starting preparation work. Then filled in most of seams and plastic injection pin marks. Tamiya injection plastic parts are amazing, but it seems that big number of pin marks is a necessary price to pay for that. Some more seams to fill then parts should be off to priming step. http://lezdep.blogspot.com/2015/07/primed-and-painted-session-for-fw16b.html
Sunday, July 12, 2015. Priming and painting sessions for FW16B conv. Despite the fact that most of engine will not be visible, I've decided to paint its parts anyway. Exhausts were painted in stainless still as base and will have to be sprayed with different clear paints to simulate heat stains later. Below are some quick shots. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
