My Freepour Latte Art: Gallery. These are some examples of my own latte art. I’ll update this page occasionally when I get a picture of an especially good pour! I began to teach myself latte art in 2006 after first seeing it on the Internet. I was inspired by the beauty of the patterns, and the professionalism of the people who could do it, and it’s one of the things I have to thank for initially drawing me further into the world of great coffee. Style was the ONLY way to go. Is a massive skill, which ta...

I know how difficult it can be to learn latte art – especially if you’ve no one to demonstrate it to you. My trainees can observe my pours every day, so it comes quicker for them, if they apply themselves, but it still takes a long time for them to achieve a high level of ability with freepour latte art. 8230;There’s more, in-depth, info and musings at the bottom of the page too! I’m always saying to my baristas “. Don’t focus on the latte art – it’s the least important thing! And texture, rather than th...

Brew Methods at Home – Non Espresso. Other brew methods (not espresso! That I use (and would recommend) for brewing great coffee at home:. Knowing how obsessed I am with coffee, and seeing me on the espresso machine all the time at work, people often ask “So, do you have a nice espresso machine at home? Has just upgraded to a new filter grinder for our coarse grinding needs; for our French Press/Cafetières, and our house bulk-brew filter. We have replaced our ancient Santos with a Bunn. I chose this grinder for the cafe after an extended period of research into grinders that I have been generally immersed in (at home also) for quite some time. The Bunn is a beast (! My intention with this has been to replicate as closely as possible the results of the ‘ Cupping. 8216; method, only in French Press format.

December 15, 2013. A couple of months ago I spent some time at the cafe with Dutch filmmakers, Johan and Norbert, as part of one of Johan’s film projects, My First Coffee.com. Knowing they would be visiting Wales for just a couple of days to do some filming, they had done some research, and had approached me about making the film whilst here. The little film they made of me is now completed and up on their site. I love their films – they make for pretty addictive viewing for any coffeegeek! Suko Quto was...
