Wednesday, 29 December 2010. If your gonna be dumb you gotta be tough. The sand at Karekare is dark verging on black at times which gives the place a very Martian feel. We walked around the length of the beach until the sand, turned to dunes and the dunes eventually gave way to marshland. The trek back was eventful in 2 ways. The first was that my flipflop broke meaning i had to walk the 2 hour trek barefoot.Not cool! And the second that we must have fallen over about 4 times each. We had fish and chips).

Sunday, 8 July 2012. The water falls - It is what it is. Sequoia National Park is beautiful. Today we hiked out to the waterfall we tried to get to last night. In the daytime it was not nearly as scary and we did not feel like our throats would be ripped out at any time by a pissed off bear. Getting to the waterfall (which was a series of small waterfalls) we climbed and swam and played around the rocks. Climbing up the waterfalls was a rush and afforded a fantastic view over the surrounding valley.
