Take Comfort, My People. Experiences and Musings of a Queer Jew. The requisite post about Shabbat Nachamu. I've been trying to write a post about remembering my love and I don't know what to write. Do I write that I am still devastated by her loss on a daily basis? Do I write that I'm terrified that Mr. Boy will meet the same demise she did? Do I write that thirteen years is long enough for someone to become responsible, and I can see it in her fourteen-year-old brother? Has been that part is under our c...

Take Comfort, My People. Experiences and Musings of a Queer Jew. How the URJ Biennial exacerbated my pet peeves with the Reform Movement. I felt alienated from the spectacle of pride in a Movement in various ways. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Take Comfort, My People. Experiences and Musings of a Queer Jew. Secular Jews and Religious Jews - Critique of Rabbi Eric Yoffie's Huffington Post Article. I was going to excoriate Rabbi Eric Yoffie for his comments about secular Jews in the attached article, but I won't. Inspired by my friend Chana, who writes at The Merely Real. יש יותר מדרך אחד להיות יהודי. Life of the Mind and Care of the Body. Reform Judaism and Obligation(s). Take Comfort, My People. Experiences and Musings of a Queer Jew. Becoming a Better Ally. I know I am still learning and I want help and advice as I strive to be a better ally. Update about an Alexander week. This week as well, I've seen people from within and without the queer community dismiss a friend's queer identity as invalid or at best a choice. And I have seen this friend's pain because of that and I am angry on her behalf. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Cat Flight of Fancy.

Take Comfort, My People. Experiences and Musings of a Queer Jew. On Tisha B'av, both Temples were destroyed. Jews were expelled from England, France, Spain, and Portugal on the date. World War I started on the date. The rounding up of Jews into ghettos in Poland started on the date, and the deportation from the Warsaw ghetto also happened. Whether some of these dates were actually on Tisha B'av is unknown, but the commemoration becomes a container for our anguish. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I'm a relati...
