Plowing the mind: Driving Mr. Rob - Part 4 - Twin Falls to Seattle

New, strange, uncharacteristic experience, coming at the needed moment, is sometimes as necessary in a person's life as a plow in a field." -Katharine Butler Hathaway. Saturday, July 16, 2011. Driving Mr. Rob - Part 4 - Twin Falls to Seattle. I'm not sure if I could ever convey the amount of time Rob spent on his cell phone up to Twin Falls (except, of course, when the cell coverage was lost in Nevada). But it was a drop in the bucket compared to this part of the trip - from Twin Falls to Seattle. It eit...

New, strange, uncharacteristic experience, coming at the needed moment, is sometimes as necessary in a person's life as a plow in a field." -Katharine Butler Hathaway. Wednesday, May 18, 2011. The enduring, the good, and the true. No one lives forever. On the 4th of January, 1985, my parents entered into an agreement as to what they wanted to do with their stuff after they'd passed away. Tomorrow we will have arrived at the final stages of following through on their request. So, we're doing that. Juliann...

New, strange, uncharacteristic experience, coming at the needed moment, is sometimes as necessary in a person's life as a plow in a field." -Katharine Butler Hathaway. Saturday, December 04, 2010. Small world after all. I love connections. Not the kind that get you anywhere. The kind where one part of your life is mysteriously and surprisingly linked to some other part. Three of my favorite connections were in play this past week. I guess the connections are connecting. Jana and Richard eventually moved ...

Something to write home about. Keeping in touch from around the globe. Galway: neon green hills, local music, and torrential rainstorms. As we were exploring the harbor we got caught in the most intense wind and rain storm I have ever been in! We stayed inside the rest of the afternoon and evening playing cards, writing postcards and making frozen pizzas to avoid the rainstorm outside. not to mention massive amounts of kit kats on sale that became a significant staple throughout our trip (wow. ch...We ve...

Japan - Day 3 - Tokyo Tower and an unforgettable dinner. Time to visit the Tokyo Tower. It was Rob's idea. He's not one to suggest going up high in anything, so I guess the sight of the tower every morning over breakfast finally lured him over. Here's the view from the lower platform. Next were several different t...

New, strange, uncharacteristic experience, coming at the needed moment, is sometimes as necessary in a person's life as a plow in a field." -Katharine Butler Hathaway. Monday, February 21, 2011. Remains of the day. My desk february 16, 2011. When there's so much flotsam and jetsam layered on a desk and threaded throughout a calendar, it's pretty easy to not notice what's gone missing in a life. To start with the clutter. The clutter is what's. cluttering. It's in the way. It needs to go. But like all rev...

Something to write home about. Keeping in touch from around the globe. Grateful for (ten things). The top ten things i was grateful as told to my friend cristina for her book-binding project. she put together a two edition book entitled, "grateful for (ten things)" and compiled the lists of people she has encountered in her life. here it is. 1 the only solid and crazy constant in my life: my family. 2 my three best friends: they are the people who know me, appreciate me, and love me exactly as i am.

Something to write home about. Keeping in touch from around the globe. This may be the most underrated city in europe. So in the past two weeks. I traveled to bray, a coastal town just south of dublin. the beach was made of all rocks, the water was frigid, and the sun set behind the classic green irish hills. Tried whiskey at the jameson whiskey factory (never again. gross). I watched the boys of our hall beat botswana in a pick up game of soccer at ucdublin. Its a weekend excursion to the countryside!
