Over the River and through the Woods. Wednesday, February 17, 2010. There are many activities during Lent at the Church I attend. Tonight we attended Mass and received ashes on our forehead in a sign of the Cross. Every Friday we have a soup supper, Mass and Stations of the Cross. This is a "story" of Christ's Passion. During Holy Week we have Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter Vigil. I enjoy so much this time of year. Spring begins and all things are made anew. Links to this post.

The picture above of the Blessed Mother holding Jesus was an item my mother-in-law gave me when they moved from their house that was just up the road from me. When I went to St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York- I saw a huge replica of this statue. It was absolutely beautiful. Weather is good so I am trying to get the outside done as much as possible today . Also getting the tree up is becoming a challange. Next year for sure, NO more placing plastic bins of Christmas decor in attic, getting way to hard to crawl around up there. So Far - -. Lights on as I go up - - - - i't slike a real tree with the way the needles drop.

Steve and I went to the Jefferson Hotel on Sunday to see the Christmas decorations Jan. 4th before they came down for the year the day after. Old Pompey lived here at the Jefferson until his death in 1948. Tourist from Florida, brought alligators here when they became to large to take care of. Lobby and Jefferson in the distance. Looks like one got out.
