Elisabeth's Intro to Lit

Thursday, August 7, 2008. This poem portrays how badly blacks are treated. Just as it says in the poem, he was sent to the kitchen to eat whenever company came over. At the end he looks toward the future and knows things are going to change. He knows one day he will be a part of society as an equal. Song of the Powers. Wednesday, August 6, 2008. In Memoriam John Coltrane. I liked this poem because the author used simple images to get a point accross. In line 20 (did he who made the lamb make thee? He ref...

Elisabeth's Intro to Lit: Song of the Powers

http://bethbrower.blogspot.com/2008/08/song-of-powers.html

Thursday, August 7, 2008. Song of the Powers. I thought this poem was very interesting, but it could be interpreted many different ways. While usually we only see rock, paper, scissors as a hand game, Mason shows us that it might have more meaning. I think he was saying in the last stanza that if you rely on only one of the three, you will "end alone." There is alot to think about after reading this poem. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Elisabeth's Intro to Lit: The Tyger

http://bethbrower.blogspot.com/2008/08/tyger.html

Wednesday, August 6, 2008. I liked this poem because the author used simple images to get a point accross. In line 20 (did he who made the lamb make thee? He refers to a lamb being created by the same God who created the tiger and asks what the significance of this is. This poem made me think about the variety of the things God has made. I also liked the picture that went along with this poem:). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Elisabeth's Intro to Lit. Song of the Powers. In Memoriam John Coltrane.

Elisabeth's Intro to Lit: Another thought on the Windhover

http://bethbrower.blogspot.com/2008/08/another-thought-on-windhover.html

Wednesday, August 6, 2008. Another thought on the Windhover. I forgot to say I think this poem is talking about a bird but really is referring to Christ. I think Hopkins uses the image of the bird to show us how perfect our Lord is. The end of the poem symbolizes the crucifixion of Christ. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Elisabeth's Intro to Lit. Using words to find my way. The way you make a bed. January 17, 2017. Sheets and blankets at hard angles,. Taut to the edges, everything. Tucked within an inch. Of its life. The way. It is supposed to be, the way. Your mother does it. I tug up the sheets and pat. What I was too lazy to actually do. Then I go and look. At how nice your bed is made. How rumbled is mine. But your bed is my bed and we make. It our own ways. One day mine. Others, we forget and meet across. A swarm of sheets a damp towel.
